Ashley Chapman, chief operating officer at Ontario-headquartered Chapman’s Ice Cream, said in a statement circulating on social media that the family decided to take that measure for the rest of the year to maintain their prices.

Chapman said they wanted to do their part to support Canadians as U.S. President Donald Trump continues to threaten economic annexation, which Chapman called the “greatest threat to our sovereignty” since the Second World War.

I watched CBC's video where they interviewed the Chapman's CEO, and they said it was the "only" ice cream manufacturer in Canada.

They forgot about Coaticook!

Yeah they're clearly lying to put more focus on their business. They must know about their many small competitors throughout the country. In my area everyone knows Kawartha Dairy is superior to Chapman's, Kawartha is just more expensive and harder to find cause they're smaller.

That's my thought as well, looks like it could be a marketing stunt for the largest Canadian ice cream producer.

Kawartha Dairy? Central Smith? Chapman's is probably the biggest, and maybe the only brand available across the entire country, but they're not the only one.

They forgot about Cows! (from PEI, common here in NS as well)

Wait, are you talking about Cows Creamery? I love their cheese! We don't get their ice cream in QC tho :(

[–] darksiderbun@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Yeah! I haven't gotten to try their butter or cheese yet but if its as good as their ice cream its a must have 🤤

In Nova Scotia there's also Farmers/Scottsburn, right?

[–] darksiderbun@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I haven't tried that, but I'll be on the lookout for sure 😎

It's the most common brand at every grocery store here in NS

I saw Chapman's, got sad (from the ingredients), and then stopped looking 😅

They forgot about a lot of Canadian brands, I'm kinda shocked at CBC's lack of research here.
