Going to be so sad the day my 2014 TV does. I guess I could just buy a big computer monitor? Hopefully not one of these ones though Jesus Christ. Do they make TV sized computer monitors? I don't even use the tv part of my tv anymore.

You don't have to connect your TV to the internet. I'm going to use my Steam Machine as a cable box, or if you're younger, a "Roku"

That's true enough. I remember hearing something about some of them in some making even this difficult, like refusing to work with HDMI input without internet connection or looking for wifi networks it can connect to without your input either way but maybe I'm just being overly pessimistic about it. Been behind the times so long I'm not really sure what the state of things is. I'd heard stuff about buying commercial displays and then got a bit discouraged about the idea given their expense and relatively "worse" performance as a tv in general. I don't necessarily mind sticking with HD and nothing much better than the best 2014 had to offer but I'd feel a bit pissed at paying through the nose for it. It's also apparently near impossible to actually buy a commercial display as an individual consumer.

Yeah, I'm currently rocking a hacked LG Web OS from 2019. But that bitch is about to be factory reset and have it's WiFi antenna removed. Trying to connect to random open access points sounds about right for shitty IoT devices...

I haven't heard of refusing an HDMI signal without WiFi. Sounds plausible for really low end TVs.
