The reality is that their idea of a "democracy" is a fundemental perversion of human nature.

Our neoliberal "democracy" was founded by and for the interests of property owners. The safeguarded institutions that make libs cream their pants are the same onstitutions designed to protect the government from revolts by poor people.

We can see by nearly every objective measure that neoliberal capitalism has deteriorated our living conditions year after year. It is a cancer that is all consuming, constant and lacks any empathy whatsoever. It will not and can not be stopped unless it is forcefully destoryed. It cannot be "improved from within" for the same reason that dementia, cancer or any other similarly all-consuming illness cannot just be subsided on a long term basis.

As such, Donald Trump becomes a viable candidate. He is the mirror image of American values. Maybe we dont like it, but to some degree we need to acknowledge as such. He is the epitome of what our founding fathers cherished and valued. And only such a system of neoliberal capitalism could elevate someone like him to a high status. In many ways, he is the ultimate embodiment of the American President.

After all, what is the use of such "democracy" when all such a system can produce are two different ways of looking into the void?

I recently had a job interview and when I was told what the job entailed I made an off-hand remark about how much work goes into it that the consumer never notices and the guy doing the interview immediately goes into a whole spiel about how "it is no the job of the consumer to think about what goes into the product. the consumer is supposed to get the product just when he wants it, just like he wants it and he should feel good about it".

capitalism is about producing mindless moments of consumption and to do that it produces mindless people living mindless lives. do not think about where your food comes from. do not think about why you buy something. do not think about why you should not think about it.

i did not get the job btw.

Freedom from politics is one of the best things in a liberal democracy.

This is topsy-turvy. Life's more politicised in liberal democracies than, say, one-party-states. In one-party-states, people just let governing happen.

Unless he's working in some shitty think tank troll farm and deradicalizing people is his job

Wow.

This is the most "the imperial core has not revolutionary potential" thing, like the best summary of it, i've ever seen.

When you are so comfortable materially that who you vote for is dictated by who the media talks about the least

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 21 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I want to live in a vicious imperialist project that kills the planet for my treats, but I never want to be confronted with that knowledge

Sounds like somebody is sad about being a grown up and having other things on the mind than Pokemon and Mario.

[–] Guamer@hexbear.net 15 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Yeah! As an adult, I have Pokemon, Mario and communism on the mind

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Can't spell Mario without Mao

If you can't even take a shit without getting angry about Orange Man, that sounds like a you problem.

Also why do I get the feeling that they don't consider the status quo to be "political"?

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 19 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

grillman

Maybe they should expect more from dems because orange man is so much of a threat to their grilling that he has never left people's heads for almost 9 years. And if fascists are an all-powerful invincible force that the worst you can do to them is just delay their inevitable victory, then you already live in a fascist country.

You know when finkelstein talked about gooning? https://youtu.be/gcaaIvJPjYI

That's what this is. This person wants to check out and goon, they will support anything that promises to enable that lifestyle. It is the same mindset.

It is Goonerism

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

In Soviet Russia, the people are invited to completely ignore politics and focus on their daily lives (and are encouraged to by their abusive media putting them in a constant state of distress when they try to even follow politics)

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 8 points 8 months ago

In Parenti style, this would be

{Apathy to Soviet politics} demonstrated the exclusion of the {socialist} system to its citizen; {increased local involvement} meant only that the leaders were attempting to {co-opt} a {restless} population{'s demands} and so maintain a firmer hold over them.

[–] btbt@hexbear.net 15 points 8 months ago (1 children)

the biggest obstacle to communism in america really is just making americans care about other people huh

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 7 points 8 months ago

A cultural revolution will be absolutely necessary
