Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

I'm not misremembering this, am I? He was like full-on outed as a pedo and then nothing happened?

Bill Clinton not only still walks the earth but was actively involved in Harris's campaign

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 41 points 2 months ago (1 children)

At least it appears the universe is trying to impose karmatic justice on the Clinton's and Kamala.

These assholes are failing upward faster than anybody I've ever seen.

If memory serves there was never anything concrete enough to bring charges, but a lot of smoke

His buddy Greenberg pled guilty to underage sex crime trafficking and is currently in prison

[–] cogitase@lemmy.dbzer0.com 50 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They were going to bring charges but the primary witness was the victim, who is or was a sex worker. Since the defense would just say, "You can't trust a prostitute over a US representative.", they decided not to proceed.

[–] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 30 points 2 months ago

Perhaps I missed some details, but I believe the argument was a bit different (but also probably included what you said). They wanted to use the other convicted pedophile, his buddy, but they feared a jury wouldn't trust a convicted pedophile. I think these were both effectively speculation though since the feds never formally acknowledged much of it. We saw the evidence and we knew they were pursuing charges... and then it went poof with little reason why

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 38 points 2 months ago

At thisnfucking rate idk if there's gonna be America in 2026.

Inshallah

This is gonna be a straight up no guardrails seat belts off airbags removed fucking car crash.

People might be fistfighting in gas stations within a mo th of inauguration because the charade of the rule of law has completely disappeared. We are truly gonna be in the "smoke em if you got em" phase of democracy.

lol acceleration stans are eating

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 69 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It's fine, if the nominations are bad the Senate can always exercise restraint - snnnkk - and - hehe - refuse - bwahaha - refuse to confirm the unsuitable nominees.

At least the confirmation hearings promise to be entertaining as hell.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 70 points 2 months ago

Sadly no Democrat would be so uncivil as to ask "Hey wait aren't you a pedophile who sex-trafficked children across state lines?"

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 35 points 2 months ago (1 children)

As a LIB, I'm compelled to inform you that Republicans have the Senate, and they'll probably just do what Trump wants

This news just got a blank stare out of me . With Boebert heading Education and the whole Doge Dept thing, I genuinely don't know how I'm supposed to process it.

Edit: apparently the Boebert thing is a meme.

This is shaping out to be an even better administration than Trump's first year. Though some are some normie-picks, like Stefanik, Rubio, and that Waltz guy, a lot of these people are so much fun. Fox News host, gaetz, Miller is back. Just gotta bring in Bannon and Gorka. PLEASE pick Rfk for HHS. God the democrats have ruined us more than they usually do. Stupid fucks you did this i will never forgive you. You could have just given me healthcare

Trump is only the accelerationist candidate if you assume that he is personally more competent than the deepstate ghouls Kamala was going to let pick her cabinet. He isn't, and by clearly being the final decision on who will run his administration, he is almost certainly going to further hurt US foreign policy goals while inspiring actual resistance to the shitty domestic policies the establishment Democrats had no interest in fighting.

Also, there's a very good chance that in 3 years time Trump's own cognitive decline will become as obvious as Biden's.

[–] KobaCumTribute@hexbear.net 43 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

All candidates are accelerationist candidates. There are no brakes on the grift train and the figurative pedal is already welded to the figurative metal, all that was up in the air was who gets rich stuffing their pockets while pretending to drive it.

I have to admit, it has been entertaining to see /r/politics completely losing their minds at Trump's picks.

[–] QuillcrestFalconer@hexbear.net 31 points 2 months ago (6 children)

I'd go so far as to say r/politics is even readable and entertaining right now because they're loosing their minds, instead of gaslighting us that they're not supporting genocide
