Update from this post yesterday: https://sh.itjust.works/post/34622756

Trumper has since scrubbed her Facebook page of all things political, including pictures of her husband in a MAGA hat. She is now claiming to never have made political posts.

Transcript:

I'm posting this not to start a debate over politics but just for a generalized statement so please do not come at me or try to start a debate. I do not nor have I ever talked politics for the sheer reason that everyone has an opinion and is absolutely entitled to that opinion; that's why we vote and I am not about to go at it with someone because our beliefs arent the same. I have recently had too many people flooding my text messages or DMs forcing their opinion. I even had one friend end our friendship because I politely stated I do not talk politics and I was not going that rabbit hole with her.

The fact of the matter is like it or not the president is who it is. I have worked for the federal government for 15 years and it is a scary thing right now. [Redacted] also military and we don't know what our jobs will look like in the future. We're rolling with things as they come out and will adjust as needed but a lot of things I receive or read from a lot of posts have somewhat taken me by surprise and do not wish to be apart of it.

"This is not political"

These people understand nothing

[–] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"This is not political"

(Not a response to you lol)

My friend in Talos, everything is political. Saying "X is not political" says that you're privileged enough to not see how X is political.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I feel like people who say things "aren't political" need to go back to like an 11th grade Literature course. These people probably would read Dracula and be like "it's just a story about a guy that bites people THAT'S ALL". Or say animal farm is just about some talking animals.

Really, the failure of public education is having large impacts everywhere. People seem to be bad at analysis. Like when a story has a married straight couple and that's not "political" to this sort of person, but a married queer couple is super "political".

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Conservatives pull that out whenever they are about to go against Trump. They think their opinion will have more weight with other conservatives if they sound less political.

[–] Phil_in_here@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Really? I tend to see this most often when someone says dumb shit they know is indefensible so they can justify not replying

[–] syklemil@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago

Conservatives often cosplay or try to present themselves as "non-political". In their mental map there's not a rich tapestry of various political preferences; there's "political" (left) and "normal" (guess).

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I'm thinking that maybe it's because, having spent years with a "if you're not with us then you must be with them" bubble, really believing it and actively using that "argument" against others, they suddenly find themselves is disagreement with the old us yet not because they agree with them.

That being so, their "I'm not political" is their way of coping with it.

Of course, as many are pointing out, everything is political, but given that these people for years believed a hyper-tribalist and ultra-simplified "it's either us or them" view of everything the idea that everything is politics might be a bit too far ahead for them who have just discovered the hard way that one can have beliefs about how things should be which are neither us nor them.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 3 points 2 months ago

This makes a lot of sense actually. The tribalism, the Us-vs-Them mentality, the first past the post 2 party system that enables that.

they suddenly find themselves in disagreement with the old us yet not because they agree with them.

A situation like that simply bursts the whole concept.

That said, this person still doesn't understand that more social politics do not mean "socialism", just that they might have kept their job and/or no need to be scared about their economic future.

[–] ecvanalog@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

If they were capable of learning anything, I suspect the first four years of this fuckstick as president would have taught them…

[–] arakhis_@feddit.org 59 points 2 months ago (2 children)

by a first glance just discovering this, looks like narcissism.

They will do everything - like deleting the obvious - before allowing being on par with the people they initially disagreed with

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 41 points 2 months ago

Yeah, it's one thing to say "I fucked up, I was wrong." But to just full on delete everything while claiming to never get into politics is just insane.

[–] sundrei 19 points 2 months ago

"Did I say that? I don't believe I said that."

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 41 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think "Everyone is entitled to their opinion" is not the rock solid axiom people think it is. Sure, you can like vanilla or chocolate ice cream. That's opinion, and not really harming anyone.

"I don't think the queers should be allowed to live" is technically an opinion, but it's a vile one, and when you act on it you're hurting people. Refusing vaccination is similar- it leads to people needlessly dying. Don't sweep these into the same category as ice cream flavors.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

"You just don't like me because I have a different opinion than you."

Said all the Nazis.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 35 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'll never understand the logic of these people. Works for the government but supports the political party that wants a small government. Loses their job and is suddenly perplexed why.

Like someone who keeps stabbing their eye with a fork wonders why they've gone blind.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago

I'll never understand the ~~logic~~ hatred

You're trying to project a reasonable thought process onto people driven by cruelty. You don't understand it because it doesn't exist: change your lens and suddenly it'll start making sense.

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 2 months ago

"Please, don't point out that my actions have consequences for myself. I was fully aware that my vote was gonna royally fuck over my fellow citizens, and that's why i voted the way i did. See? I'M THE VICTIM HERE!"

[–] scott@lem.free.as 30 points 2 months ago

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Here are some spare commas. Feel free to use them.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 28 points 2 months ago

"I made an incredibly stupid political mistake that people warned me repeatedly not to make and it backfired and hurt me personally so now I'm going to pretend I've never been into politics to try to save face."

Fucking loser. I hope they suffer.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sorry all, was really hoping to make a c/letsnotmakethispolitical community featuring her previous posts and then the final post of her losing her job and denouncing politics, reminiscent of the old Herman Cain Award.

But since she has scrubbed her Facebook page, there's no material left. Unless anyone knows of a way to recover deleted posts from someone else.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

if the profile is public, archive.org might have them

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago

She wasn't public. I tried looking for her yesterday when my brother first pointed her out. He can see her stuff since they're friends, but I couldn't see anything.

[–] sundrei 20 points 2 months ago

Well, the important thing is that she's suffered. It would be nice if she was self-aware enough to understand why, but we have to take what we can get.

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

PLEASE be Nice to this Women! She thought only TRANS KIDS would be Harmed and NOT White people! She was TAKEN ADVANTAGE of!

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Yeah, but, but, uh... Joe Bidumb!

[–] db2@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago

To that I say: Suckle my entire asshole, Trumpie.

[–] radicalautonomy@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What's so great is that they don't get to blame Biden or Democrats in any way for this. There is no wiggle room here, and they have to contend with that and confront their cognitive dissonance.

Option 1: Trumpsk unfairly fired you in spite of you being a good and efficient worker. Dear Leader(s) is/are at fault and fallible.

Option 2: Trumpsk fairly fired you because you are a poor and inefficient worker. You are at fault and deserve what came to you.

[–] warbond@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

That's part of the problem, many who have fallen into this pattern have been groomed to think Option 2 from the time they were born. This is unironically what they earnestly believe. But I'm pretty sure the insidious marriage of religion, wealth, and politics was the plan ever since the L they took during Watergate.

[–] NutWrench@lemmy.ml 13 points 2 months ago

Well that's a shame. Anyway . . .

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

I hate this person with every fiber of my being

[–] CuddlyCassowary@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

She doesn’t wish to be “apart,” so that means she wants to be all in with it, right? Right?!? Give her what she’s asked for…it’s only fair.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The leopards are going to get multiple meals off this one!

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm seriously so bummed she removed her old MAGA posts. The leopards would've died from gorging themselves.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm actually worried about the leopard population and how much food there is right now. Unless the leopards start having a lot of leopard babies they might gorge themselves to death either way.

[–] raynethackery@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Leopards will inherit the Earth.

[–] pubquiz@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Gargle balls, magat, the leopard eating your face and that of your like-minded-drones is certainly enjoying the buffet.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Get fucked, magat.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

I read this as "I voted for someone who has fired me and somehow I don't have to admit I made the wrong choice by doing that. I'm just going to bury my head in the sand now. "

To refuse to talk about the politics of it from a person like this just means they know they are in the wrong and are incapable of admitting it.

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

She does not wish to be apart of it? So... Keep going?

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

do not wish to be apart of it.

'Apart from' would have been a better way to say that, but 'apart of' is still a fine way to say he wants to be near or in 'it'.

Okay; if that's his wish...

[–] yarr@feddit.nl 1 points 2 months ago

"taken me by surprise and I don't wish to be a part of it" is a perfect way to describe Trump's second term.
