On some level this person clearly understands trans women are a marginalized minority, because in what other situations do people go into a political battle with enough entitlement to believe the other party will just agree you're right and go home when you're bored with the argument?

A mistake many neoliberals make is to assume that when they decided to believe in stagnation and the absence of change, that the rest of us came to the same conclusion. We won't take no for an answer, correct, because we actually believe in justice and not stopping until it has been won.
