The only good thing to come from Cyberpunk 2077 gets a new season. Imaishi isn't returning to direct, however Kai Ikarashi worked on a bunch of Trigger stuff and this project looks like it's his promotion to the director's chair. He did episode 6 in S1, which gave us this:

Without knowing any details. I assume season 2 is gonna be a once again completely self contained story that plays in the universe of 2077 . (Maybe we get some cameos in 1-2 episodes but I wouldnt even bet on it)

I actually really enjoyed this show. It does a great job of the world not changing from start to finish with the only changes being to character's lives and that was very genre/thematically appropriate and grounded in a setting that is over the top. Also absolutely nails a vibe.

Game was awful at launch and it took years of patches + an expansion to end up in a somewhat acceptable state

I agree that the game shouldn't have been released in such a sorry state, but that doesn't mean the game is at all bad today. Same goes for games like No Man's Sky. Amazing games. Worth playing today.
Oh sick, I thought the first season was great. I hope they're going with another one season complete story, I think it's a great format for genre fiction. Just a tight little package with a straightforward enough plot and arc to be really well-executed in between a mess of great visuals.
