uKKKraine is just doing 4D chess being ironic nazis to own the commies, you wouldn't understand.

What if Hitler was being a Nazi as a social experiment? Maybe he was just doing an ironic prank to show how bad nazism is?

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 12 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Honestly even the OG Nazis did have an unserious and troll-like outlook and attitude. It’s why they put skulls on their uniforms and played word games to avoid admitting what they were doing.

Liberals don’t even realize their “Ukrainians are just trolling the Russians” argument is actually a tally in our arguments favor not theirs.

same with the ISIS flags in Syria

Hi, I haven't heard about Ukrainian Nazis, does anybody have a source

[–] carl_marks_1312@hexbear.net 13 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Make a custom Google search to give you results before 2022. Some quick examples:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/apr/11/ultranationalism-in-ukraine-a-photo-essay https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-30414955 https://www.npr.org/2019/04/17/714413439/right-wing-groups-are-active-in-ukraine-as-country-heads-into-presidential-elect

Also after 2022 western outlets would quite frequently publish articles with Azov and other soldiers having Nazi tattoos etc

The volunteer Azov Battalion formed in 2014 as a response to the armed Russian-backed insurgency in Eastern Ukraine. And Azov's fighters have often been accused of having neo-Nazi sympathies.

Azov seem bad, but also looking into why they were formed: Why was Russia invading Ukraine in 2014? Why did they have a reaso to do that before Azov existed?

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

The Russians aren't really attacking Ukraine because of nazis. That's just Russian propaganda (doesn't mean it doesn't have elements of truth to it). The real reason is geopolitical, in that having NATO troops and military infrastructure on the russian-ukrainian border is really bad for Russian national security.

Even as far back as the 1990s prominent figures in the west were predicting that having western troops or equipment in Ukraine would virtually guarantee war, and that the strategically sensible course of action would be to absorb Russia into the western sphere of influence by accounting for their security concerns instead of ignoring them.

https://wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/08MOSCOW265_a.html

In effect, the Russians saw the expansion of NATO as confirmation that the Cold War wasn't really over. The tipping point for Russian intervention into Ukraine was the maidan coup, in which the newly installed government took hostile actions against Russian minorities living in Ukraine, especially in the donbass. Whether you believe that the donbass separatists were Russian puppets or not, they cannot be blamed for wanting to separate from what was and still is an objectively racist, neocolonised and neoliberal state.

Not to mention, the eastern Ukrainians had voted for the guy kicked out in the maidan coup and were pissed.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

the maidan coup also threatened sevastopol, and there's no fucking way in hell russia's letting that port go

[–] carl_marks_1312@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I don't have much to add to @sodium_nitride@hexbear.net's analysis apart from pointing you to Ben Nortons if you're actually asking in good faith and have the time. It goes into more detail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhajzlhcgSk

Feel free to also use hexbears search feature as there are really good effort posts with a bunch of sourcing to be found there.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Yeah yeah… Putin had no other option but to invade the country and protect ethnic Russians from Nazis to protect them from, checks notes, a democratically elected Jewish President. Just like World War 2.

The historical dialectic is strong in this one

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 40 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

The way you studiously avoid engaging with the eight years of terror bombing the Ukranian coup regime committed before the Russian Federation stepped in is extra disgusting now that we have, in Palestine, a counterexample of what happens when no one sends troops to stop it.

Do all people deserve self-determination, or not? If yes, you have no justification for the attempted ethnic cleansing of eastern Ukraine by it's own government.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 39 points 9 months ago

The Jewish president integrated Azov and all its spinoff Nazi groups into the Ukrainian military.

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 38 points 9 months ago

Much like how Israel isn't representative of the Jewish people, neither is the Ukrainian dictator who utilizes nazi barrier troops to stop the conscripted Ukrainian people from turning their guns rightfully against the NATO puppet government.

But nice try trying to weaponize someone's jewishness in a classic act of antisemetism to create a thought-terminating argument

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 37 points 9 months ago

Jews can't be nazis! Democratically elected presidents can't commit genocide!

Huh? What's this "israel" you speak of?

[–] axont@hexbear.net 37 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

The democratic Ukrainian president who banned all leftist parties

[–] carl_marks_1312@hexbear.net 34 points 9 months ago

dialectics is when someone cant be a fascist because they're jewish. the more jewish someone is the more historically they cannot be a fasicst

[–] Tomorrow_Farewell@hexbear.net 34 points 9 months ago

Notably, people like you never manage to produce any sort of explanation for what Russia should have done in response to the most prolific invader in the world attempting to amass weapons and troops near Russia's most populated areas (which is especially bad considering that NATO is involved in at least one high-profile genocide right this moment).

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 33 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Who promised peace, got called a dipshit by said nazis, and then said minsk is a joke, unlimited war now from his mi6 handlers? That jewish president? Who also wants ukraine to be second pisrael?

(And yes invasion was a bad idea, cause it was more humane to just strike rada instead of this poor people fight rich people talk shit)

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 32 points 9 months ago

If you pay attention to like anything you'd know that someone being Jewish isn't a get out of jail free card for being a neo-nazi.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 30 points 9 months ago

very true and just like how obama's election got right of all racism in the united states.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 27 points 9 months ago

Jews famously can't be fascists... definitely no prominent counter example in the world right now perpetrating a genocide in the name of judiaism

The only comment in there is threatening physical violence to protect the US state department narrative. That’s going beyond bootlicking, it’s volunteering to be the boot for free

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 11 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Imagine the 'No step on me snek' flag but the snek is turned into a boot saying "use me daddy!"

Idea could use a bit more workshopping.

another option

[–] burlemarx@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 9 months ago

Being a Nazi in Ukraine today does not mean the same as being a Nazi in Germany during WW II. The context changes, so the sworn enemy of the supremacist also changes. Yesterday they hated the Jews, but now they hate Muslims, Russians, other inferior Asiatic people and the like. It's no surprise today how they call Russian people "orcs", and cling to their European ideal.

Today, for example, there's a very famous Jewish supremacist state (which is also a close ally of Ukraine, including the Azov Battalion) which has a habit of starving Palestinian people to death, bombing hospitals and schools, sniping little children and the like.

Fascism, Nazism, Zionism, Ukrainian neo-nazism etc, may have different forms today and then, but the supremacist speech, where there's a superior culture or ethnicity and a dehumanized enemy is very much present in this day and age.

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

He might be faking it. He is an actor. There is only one way to see if he is Jewish. Post hog

[–] postcapitalism@lemmy.today 0 points 9 months ago (10 children)

Wait wait, I’m getting it. The US Secretary of Defense Pete “the Alcoholic” has crusader neo-fascist Nazi tattoos, and the US is rounding up minorities in concentration camps. Maybe Russia should invade us next. It would be doing us a favor. You know for Freedom. We have a lot of Nazis here too.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 38 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Would unironically be an improvement if for no other reason than that the breaking of US military power would be removing a boot from the neck of the entire world. You like democracy and self-determination for all peoples, right? You and I have lived fat and haughtily off the backs of others long enough, it's time we took one for the team.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 35 points 9 months ago

Seriously, you would tho, with the US as well. Two for one bargain, don't threaten me with a good time.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 34 points 9 months ago
[–] axont@hexbear.net 29 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Russia conquering the US would unironically be an improvement. The US is 10 times worse for the world in every regard.

[–] T34_69@hexbear.net 22 points 9 months ago

Can't help but notice that both of your comments here are smug and sarcastic while making no attempt to acknowledge that several people have given substantive replies to both of them. Same deal as most people who wade into this instance to do apologia for the US/NATO side in this proxy war. Well, it's the same playbook that we've seen in Yugoslavia, Syria, and all the other places that the US has used proxy forces and hybrid warfare to break up the enemies and victims of its imperialist project.

People here tend to take the position of critical support of Russia in this conflict and revolutionary defeatism with respect to US imperialism, broadly speaking. Don't you think you might stand to learn something if you actually engage with people on this, or are you afraid to do so? Are you sure you've understood the positions that you're mocking? Your glib replies here suggest you have not.

[–] T34_69@hexbear.net 20 points 9 months ago

Also there's only one side in this conflict that has consistently tried to negotiate in good faith, de-escalate, and reach peace agreements that respect the actual political desires of people in the donbas and crimea, and it's not the NATO side.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 19 points 9 months ago

That would be amazing if Russia actually did that. You think we don't want American destroyed?

[–] OnlyTrueLiberal@hexbear.net 17 points 9 months ago

yes death to america

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 8 points 9 months ago

google "revolutionary defeatism" dumbfuck
