[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 41 points 5 months ago

Musk is just a liberal who got scratched anyway.

[–] CommCat@hexbear.net 26 points 5 months ago

everytime I see Newsom's mug, I'm reminded of Christian Bale's portrayal of American Psycho (2000). I'm sure their psychology are similar but Newson is able to hide it well in public.

So almost no difference from who he is right now except his party affiliation. joker-amerikkklap

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 20 points 5 months ago

He would be more careful with his awkward arm gestures

I mean, there's a lot we don't know about Newsom and I wouldn't be too surprised

California governor. Got rich from Daddy's wine empire, started up as San Francisco Mayor back in 2005? It's well known in California he wants to be President since 2015, at least. He's a very Obama-esque, corporate Democrat doing everything to hurt progressive policies while saying all the right sounding things.

I will, unfortunately, say his public speaking and PR is incredibly good. I fucking hate this dude, but it's true. Watch some of the debate with Ron DeSantis and you'll quickly see what I mean.

edit: Also anecdote: Kamala Harris fucking hates Newsom. They were both going for Governor at the same time back in 2017,2018. He did some rat fuck shit with the California DNC and became the front-runner.

He's unfortunately, probably going to be president. Then continue all of Trump's awful shit, but the libs won't care, it's brunch time! Then Super Hitler kicks his ass in 2032.

Unfortunately a more fascist California governor than Schwarzenegger

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 16 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Schwarzeneggar you could throw eggs at him and he'd just say it was free speech.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 12 points 5 months ago (2 children)

As far as Republicans go he might be the least ghoulish one. Maybe it's my nostalgia for him in the 80s and 90s growing up but he seems to be at least genuine and kinda cool.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 16 points 5 months ago

bar in hell, democrats making nixon look good etc

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 10 points 5 months ago

His self-improvement shtick is at least clearly genuine. When he talks to people about fitness he sincerely cares about the topic and their improvement, this carries over and makes it feel like he cares about people in general.

The Ukraine video he did will always sour me on him. He's a liar that knows what lies he's telling and tells them anyway.

His aunt was married to Pelosi's brother in law, so I think that technically makes them second cousins twice removed.

What's more interesting though is Newsom used to be married to Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was Trump's fundraising chief, was Don Jr's fiancee, and is about to be the US ambassador to Greece. All these people know one another and we're forced to live as spectators to their little club.

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 30 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Guilfoyle breaking up with Newsom to get with Don Jr illustrates how little of a difference there is between the dems and republicans better than any piece of theory could.

Also, from his current wife's wikipedia page:

A screenshot of the wikipedia article about Jennifer Siebel Newsom that emphasizes how she was designated the "first partner" of California

Rejecting the label "first lady" to become the "first partner" of a deeply queerphobic politician is performative progressivism at its finest.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 13 points 5 months ago

first partner implies something something

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 29 points 5 months ago

yeonmi-park in bad country they have a de facto aristocracy that stays in power despite being deeply unpopular with the people

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 5 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

"Cousin [times] removed" is when there's a generational mismatch. Your first cousin's children are your first cousins once removed. There isn't really a word for in-laws of in-laws, although you may know the latter better than your second cousins (I happen to do this).

[–] context@hexbear.net 19 points 5 months ago (1 children)

ah, not quite, turns out he's her brother-in-law's nephew. close enough.

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 14 points 5 months ago

Lol I looked it up just before you replied, that was a very believable fib.

He sort of reminds me of the sleazy band manager from GWAR for some reason:

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 15 points 5 months ago

Ah, GWAR

That takes me back...

I was gonna look up all the good bills he vetoed that I had heard about on the news a while back, but the top Google results are taken up by "nonprofit" "nonpartisan" irrelevant slop.

[–] DogThatWentGorp@hexbear.net 3 points 5 months ago
