Amid outrage over Democrats caving in the government shutdown fight, polling shows the nationwide popularity of New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's economic agenda.

It turns out "eternal suffering forever" just isn't that popular of a political position

The people yearn for socialism, even if they don't realize it yet.

when i became a socialist, it was less of a fundamental change in ideology and more like realizing socialism was the name for what i already thought was good

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 month ago

exactly.. i used to think i was a liberal but it never fit right, so i used the term loosely. Then I found out about socialism and communism and realized communism was what matched my inner being the most, but in so many more ways than i expected

the american people yearn for succdem policies. they absolutely do not give a shit about dismantling the global system of exploitation that allows them their treats. yankkkee scum will never support actual socialism in any large numbers

they mostly aren't aware it exists

we're talking about americans here. they mostly aren't aware of anything except themselves

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They will support it, but only after the current economic system completely collapses.

until then they'll fight tooth and nail against it

Democrats shocked that helping people out materially results in election wins. They promise to do better by providing even less material support to the poor and more empty platitudes.

And meanwhile, the DNC and the Democrat establishment and their well-paid and not coincidentally well-connected "consultants" are getting to work on the PR strategy they're going to use when they try in the midterms to push the ever-more ludicrous notion that what the people really want are pro-corporate centrists, and that's why they're offering us nothing but pro-corporate centrists, and we just need to vote blue no matter who, and it'll be all our fault if their strategy of offering candidates we don't want fails.

The only lesson the DNC will take from the Mamdani campaign is that they should post more.

Still searching for that "Joe Rogan of "The Left""

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They had Joe Rogan when Bernie was running!

fucking worthless party filled with cowards who are paid to lose.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Obviously you know this, but the DNC didn't have Rogan when Bernie was running, Bernie did.

There is no way on earth I would listen to ten million hours of Rogan to find this answer, but I do kinda wonder if anybody's asked Rogan how much the DNC ratfucking of Bernie contributed to his own personal specific slide further down the right wing pipeline he was at the entrance to even back during the Bernie 2016 campaign.

Jamie, pull up my political compass tests

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Rogan's a crypto fash. He didn't "slide" that way he just let the mask go a little as the rest of the country slid. He's made numerous posts that are pretty obvious dogwhistles.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not that he's not a fascist, but I do think he's an incoherent amerikkkan dipshit first and fascist second. (many such cases)

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I'm completely sure he knows what he's doing when he posts this along with referencing "kali yuga" which is a pretty well known dogwhistle. He may as well be posting a swastika.

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That might be the dumbest post I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of really dumb posts. Holy shit.

[–] mendiCAN@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

joe roan subscribed to /r/politicalcompassmemes is an idea both hilarious and probable

[–] mendiCAN@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

man i can't wait for election season! that special time when libs forget recent history and come screaming in here tryina get commies to vote for the ghoul the DNC told them they wanted. ahhh i can't wait to reread their same bad arguments and passe-passive aggressiveness! ooooh I'm getting excited

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 20 points 1 month ago

They'll be popular until they're Co opted by the DNC and watered down and then eventually neutered.

[–] FarrellPerks@feddit.uk 18 points 1 month ago

It's almost as if forcing the shareholders to help the average Joe (Socialism) is more popular than fucking them over to help the shareholders (Capitalism)
