Some Trump product a scam, really? Youdontsay.jpg

[–] satanmat@lemmy.world 114 points 1 month ago (4 children)

This shit pisses me off.

If Biden/Obama/aoc were pulling this we’d hear about emoluments 24/7

But Trump does it and dems are like oh maybe we should just see what happens….

Then we have TrumpRX and Trump making millions off crypto

GDISM

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 36 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So technically, in this specific instance, Trump Mobile isn't run by Donald Trump. It's instead a separate company run by Don Jr and Eric Trump. That company is then licensing the "Trump" name from The Trump Organization.

Now The Trump Organization is owned by Donald Trump, although officially run by Don Jr, Eric, etc.

But you're absolutely right that all of this is bullshit. It's also why Trump is so pissed at New York AG Letitia James for investigating and uncovering all sorts of shady business practices.

You're absolutely right that Congress should be doing something about it.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

If Congress did something about it might highlight or stifle their own unethical profiteering.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago (4 children)

What's next?

  • Trumpla, the EV manufacturer?
  • Trumpmart, selling nearly-rotten food at marked-up prices.
  • ~~Trump Burder~~ this one already exists.
  • Trumple Inc, consumer phone dropshipper.
  • Trumpazon, a marketplace where he takes a cut on all sales.
  • Trump Sauna, a PC games storefront.
[–] skvlp@lemmy.wtf 6 points 1 month ago

At least Intel, and probably more, are already paying protection? I suppose it’s easier to collect protection than to organise a scam operation.

[–] Fenrisulfir@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

They already did the trump phone and I’d argue trump steaks could qualify as trumpmart

[–] Themosthighstrange@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

we already have the trump drone company, im sure theres more

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago

trump diapers he hasnt really capitalize on it yet. probably turmp glasses and sunglasses , fake gold edition with his signature.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I just can't get over him selling beans in the oval office. it's so absurd

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Everything is a test to see if they can push things further. Hocking a vocal ass-sniffing donor's wares in an absurd and awkward showcase to troll the left while showing he was in on the joke was all part of a grift and a test.

If you can do something so seemingly incompetent and bizarre, then you've cleared an opening to inject something more malignant next time.

[–] FriendBesto@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 weeks ago

That's because I'm the aggregate they are all the same. Regardless of party most are corrupt and get along just fine behind close doors.

I mean, Pelosi made over $100 million on the stock market via inside trading, a number of GOP do the same, maybe not well as her, but they do it, too.

[–] PhobosAnomaly@feddit.uk 69 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's a bit of a wank article to be honest - it doesn't even go on to say if the SIM was delivered. Why not wait the extra day and publish the article after it was due to be delivered?

If it didn't get delivered then it's easy meat for Trump-kicking, and if it did get delivered then you'd get some sort of review from some other poor fucker daft enough to sign up to it.

Bit of a waste of time really.

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 4 points 1 month ago

Because his deadline was today and his sim hadn't arrived. "Waiting an extra day" is not an option.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 64 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Trump mobile?! wtf is that? This shit is ridiculous. Remember when you guys had Carter and he was in hot shit until he sold his fucking peanut farm or whatever? And now you guys have this. Not a serious country at all.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 42 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Remember when you guys had Carter and he was in hot shit until he sold his fucking peanut farm or whatever?

Let's be clear about this: Carter was never "in hot shit" about his farm. Carter put his farm in a blind trust proactively because he respected the emoluments clause and interpreted it broadly.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah I’m not really that well versed in what happened. All I know is “something something Carter something something peanut farm.” Thank you for clarifying.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago

It's like a reverse emoluments clause

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Another day, another grift for that family.

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Why give this man any of your money? He is known to be a scam artist. Stop supporting scam artists.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 24 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Because they're a journalist exposing a scam with POTUS's name on it.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

But literally everything he's ever done has been a scam. At some point it stopped being journalism and just became enabling our gullibility.

Like, when 20 out of 20 endeavours the dude has put his name in have been scams... Do you really need an investigation of endeavour #21?

[–] artyom@piefed.social 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

literally everything he's ever done has been a scam.

And yet people keep buying, so clearly not everyone understands that.

At some point it stopped being journalism and just became enabling our gullibility.

$14 won't enable him to do shit. In fact he'll be disabled if fewer people buy his scams as a result.

Do you really need an investigation of endeavour #21?

Absolutely.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It’s not even him. It’s just another scam company licensing the name to scam a few bucks outta some suckers.

They’ll be long gone by the time anyone that gives a shit gets back in control of the FCC to hold them accountable

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You are overestimating the intelligence of the American populous.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just throwing it out there, and for the record I agree with you, but if you're going to criticize people's intelligence, you can't make an egregious spelling error like that.

Populace.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

Nah, it's ok. I'm American.

You don't get a SIM

You become a SIMP

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 month ago

So, you could say that the geriatric, obese, orange lardbucket isn't very...

Mobile.
YEAHHHHHHHhhhhh!

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago

And you never will

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 20 points 1 month ago

its always a scam to launder money from russia, and other places.

[–] spicehoarder@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 month ago

Am I the only one seeing the Schutzstaffel ⚡ in the negative space between the 4 and 7?

[–] falseWhite@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Another scam with trump's name on it? I'm glad that only MAGA fall for this shit.

[–] unphazed@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Remember that those MAGA dumbasses aren't just wasting money. They're adding more power to Trump. Fucker went bankrupt six times and finally found the holy grail of scams: be the senile puppet boy of the rich corpos. I always thought W was a puppet, but he seems to have at least drawn a line at full blown tyranny. We need to convince these people to buy stupid shit again... beanie babies 2.0?

[–] TheAsianDonKnots@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Such a grift but I will give it to them, charging $47.45 is pretty clever marketing.

[–] AmbitiousProcess@piefed.social 5 points 1 month ago

And it's more expensive than the most expensive US mobile plan, which would have faster speeds, whereas Trump Mobile's drops off after a certain (lower than T-Mobile's own plans) amount of GB data usage since they're solely using T-Mobile as an MVNO, and also has deprioritized data speeds during periods of network congestion.

It would also get you the ability to switch underlying network providers if you're in a dead zone, international calling and data in more locations, better customer support given all the experiences we've seen from reviewers, and unlimited hotspot data, plus better bundle deals for families or people with smart watches that need separate data.

Hell, even T-Mobile's own own plans, which are usually substantially more expensive than other companies they solely act as an MVNO for, like Mint Mobile, (which is actually owned by T-Mobile now) which will get you the same value as T-Mobile's $50/mo plan in a $30/mo plan that is just $15/mo for new users for up to a 12 month period.

Trump Mobile is just $2.55 cheaper than T-Mobile's $50 plan.

[–] IonTempted@lemmynsfw.com 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

In a way it's sad that people get scammed, on the other they had it coming.

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I think only mentaly poor people vote for him. He promises taking away their health care and does it, yet they still support him.

[–] Odo@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm not the only one seeing the SS rune in the space between the 4 and 7, am I? That had to be intentional.

Who could have seen this coming?

[–] fin@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

He still don't realize "Trump" is a badge of shame

[–] ABetterTomorrow@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Oh they spying the shit out of you lol

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

How can they? They haven't even sent the spying device yet.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah it's a regular phone.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago

Tulsi hasn't finished putting in the freedom taps yet

[–] Mike_Hunt@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Same people buying this are the same fools claiming the government are tracking everyone's phones

[–] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago (3 children)

But the government is tracking everyone's phones through purchase of data from private enterprises.
