The real struggle is staying focused during the few seconds between turning off my alarm and getting my meds. One little maneuver could cost 51 years

[–] Beacon@fedia.io 30 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Don't mark the alarm done till it's in your mouth. Snooze the alarm 5 min if you must

[–] BillyCrystalMeth@slrpnk.net 11 points 3 weeks ago

This is my trick for everything that needs to get done. Never turn it off before it's done

[–] ganryuu@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 weeks ago

I've managed multiple times to forget if I took them or not during the snooze.

[–] SolacefromSilence@fedia.io 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm just going to do this first...

Hey, I remembered to get my kid his meds. That's almost a win, wait... what was I doing?

[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 37 points 3 weeks ago

They: It's a highly addictive drug.

Me: SHIT, I forgot again.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 19 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I use https://f-droid.org/packages/dev.corruptedark.diditakemymeds

You can even set it up to require photo evidence of you taking your meds.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Do you know if it changes with the time zone you're in?

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 3 points 3 weeks ago

It does at least respect daylight savings. I guess it uses whatever your phone reports as the current local time.

[–] GerardsGuitar@retrolemmy.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

Thank you this seems so useful!

[–] Zidane@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 weeks ago

Here's my secret effective tip: have blood pressure issues that cause palpitations when you forget your meds for a couple hours. Who needs alarms when you can feel like shite for the rest of the day?!

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I keep forgetting to take my meds this week.

[–] Lycist@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

they say to get one of those daily pill calendar things, but thats too much work to fill all the time.

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 12 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

There are Sundays where the thought of having to spend 5 minutes filling up my pills for the week kept me in bed for hours.

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 weeks ago

If I’m being good I do it Saturday night, after I take the last dose and empty it. But I’m rarely being good.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I feel this so deeply. Friend or neighbor needs my help for hours? No problem. Work a crazy long day? No problem. Vacuum for fifteen minutes? Practically impossible.

[–] lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

This is part of why I have a robot vacuum. Press a button on my phone, done.

Then it eats the socks that my kids didn't pick up like I asked...

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah I have four cats and two of them are long haired. It's too much for the roomba I tried.

I've got two, so I have a whole week of time to keep forgetting to refill it.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago

I have one but if it’s not physically in front of me I just don’t think of it.

You just need a reminder to check your reminders.

[–] GerardsGuitar@retrolemmy.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

I genuinely have a reminder to check my reminders 😂

I just made it my routine.
Can't forget if it's essential.

For any future Ops that wants to know my schedule:
Wake up
Make breakfast and brew tea
Eat while watching a bit of media
Take meds
Get ready for work
Go work.

[–] nullroot@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

You have a routine? Man, just be nice. I forget to blink if I'm too distracted.

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

My nerf instead is being dehydrated af.
Not unusual that my only fluid intake besides a gulp for downing the meds is about 400ml of tea for the whole day.
And in the evening I start notice that I have a headache and didnt drink anything for the whole day ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] m0darn@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What worked for me was taking my meds the same moment I put on deoderant. That way I can double check whether I took them by smelling my armpit before I leave the house.

i can absolutely drop out of a routine randomly

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Couple days off sick or on holiday: "I've never met this routine before in my life."

Me: "Ah, I'm finally set in this routine"

My brain: "lol what routine"

I've got 2 daily alarms, 15 minutes apart and still manage to occasionally miss taking them.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Fuck... I think I forgot to send in a refill

[–] GerardsGuitar@retrolemmy.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

The fact I saw this just after realising I forgot to set my timer for my ADHD med and have no clue when it's next due 😅

[–] tlmcleod@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What happened 5d ago? Do that again

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Accidentally dismissed the alarm.

[–] chickenf622@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

As a person recently diagnosed. I have a pill bottle with my daily dose. I refill it in the evening on my comedown to make sure I don't forget it. I do sometimes forget in the morning when I go into the office though.

[–] Acamon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Thanks for the reminder, I had genuinely forgotten this morning. Why is it so hard?

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

My doctor told me to put my meds in another room with an alarm so I have to get up to turn it off.

Unfortunately I don’t live alone so that doesn’t work.

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Read this just in time to not forget mine 😂🙏🏻well, I hope, they are downstairs, on my way

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 3 weeks ago

Haha, so typical, I nearly missed the timeframe after all 😌 so much stuff happening on the way down…

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

The Things 3 app doesn’t get first class OS support, so there’s little chance of these reminders working versus the default Reminders app, which has the ability to notify and stick those notifications to your home screen

Even better, use the Health Medications feature in iOS and set high priority notifications that scream and put an unbearably huge notification on your lock screen

[–] nothx@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago

Having something to check off helps.

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Im in this picture and I didnt consent to it
