Do you also avoid handshakes?

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

With my eye? Definitely.

Pretty sure you can't hold atoms that close, there's a repelling force. Something to so with the four fundamentals... Er... Strong nuclear force, weak nuclear force, electomagnetic and gravity.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 48 points 1 week ago

Then you understand the gravity of the situation.

There also aren’t little bars connecting atoms, and atoms don’t have faces. But here we are.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But maybe what if they do have little faces and they are just shy and won’t look at the camera?

Something about quantum physics and change the outcome by looking at it? There now it's science

Sir, this is a comic strip

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 week ago

You are cool with the mushroom having hands though?

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You can definitely hold atoms that close together, but it tends to have bad results.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm doing it right now and it's fine.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 1 week ago

Dude, share your cold fusion reactor and save the planet!

[–] Icytrees@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

It's a magic mushroom.

[–] Tarquinn2049@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Hehe yeah, the atoms of the separate fingers are closer than the atoms making up each finger, while I like the concept they were going for, they have accidentally made the fingers literally 'closer than' touching.

That's just fine, man

Feynman's Magnets and Why Questions video gets into whole "there is no touching" near the end. Right up there with Sagan's "Atoms are mainly empty space. Matter is composed chiefly of nothing." existentialism.

By your own admission, you will NEVER technically "lose it"

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

The only things holding me back,
are the Pauli Exclusion Principle
and Coulomb's Law!

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

why does it have finger nails... or fingers...

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

oh my gosh radomguy you can't ask people why they got fingers

[–] Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'll bet they have a pancreas and a poophole as well!

i wouldn't go that far

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Technically, if those atoms touch that would be fusion and I doubt you could hold a sun in your hand.

[–] wolframhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, because what is being shown here is simply the electron cloud of each atom. Two atoms with overlapping electron clouds are bonded. In order to cause fusion their nuclei must combine.

This guy fusions
