Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

The neo-liberal FRG regime continues targeting dissidents.

Snip:

Earlier this month, GLS Bank informed the German Communist Party (DKP) that all of its accounts would be discontinued effective December 31.

According to the DKP, GLS Bank did not provide any reason for its decision but had previously requested information about the party’s fundraising campaign for Cuba.

[...]

Klaus Leger, head of the finance committee at the DKP, told NachDenkSeiten media outlet that bank representatives had suggested in a phone conversation with him that “there had been external pressure, and that the closures were not based on a sovereign internal decision by GLS Bank.”

[...]

Last March, Berliner Sparkasse froze the account of a Jewish anti-Zionist group named the ‘Jewish Voice for Just Peace in the Middle East.’

Keep in mind, this is way before the AfD officially takes power. Usually the libs don't have the stomach to do a lot of Hitler stuff domestically (blowing up poor people for fun in foreign countries has never presented much of a problem to the liberals), that is why they give control to the Nazis. So while this is not an escalation in practice (the German Communist party is probably not all that powerful), it is an escalation within the liberal ideology.

We weren’t the only ones hit with termination of our bank accounts. The Rote Hilfe („red help“, think like a network of leftists of all kinds, that acts like an insurance for political repressions) also got their account terminated a few days ago. The DKP still plays one of the most important roles in the peace movement here. This debanking comes right after the informal youth organization, the SDAJ, organized a school strike against the planned mandatory military service, with a size that dwarves most school strikes in the last 2 decades. Of course the reason the bank gives is Cuba. But trying to silence one of the few organizations which can actually do something against Germanys military plans is nothing new.

it's interesting being a leftist of some kind, because it's like the other 80% of the political spectrum is trying to fuck you over, at best, and kill you, at worst.

The fascists winning culture war after culture war and discussing their violent plans? Eh, let’s hear ‘em out. Free speech.

A small fringe ideology that hasn’t been relevant in decades?! ENEMY OF THE STATE DETECTED!

A small fringe ideology that hasn’t been relevant in decades?

The fact that they fear us enough to go to such lengths to suppress us shows that we are not irrelevant. And we are also not fringe on a global level. The anti-communist firewall in the West is more fragile than it appears. They cannot afford to be lax, especially now that material conditions are rapidly worsening and we are approaching a crisis, which will be prime ground for radicalization. Suppressing even seemingly fringe parties now before a snowball effect can start is existential to the ruling class. Which shows that we have a lot more power than we think and that we have to keep pushing back, organizing, agitating and educating.

The entirety of Western culture, from the roots, is built to quash any ideology that espouses any form of equality immediately and violently so that likely has something to do with it

The Europeans forgot anything they learned after ww2. Ww3 is on the horizon, all for this damn fool thing in Ukraine.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 38 points 2 days ago

The only thing the Europeans learned from WW2 is that they have to make sure to only genocide the correct people next time.

[–] demerit@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 2 days ago

They learned nothing after ww2.

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago

The only thing Europeans learned is that they need more oil.

[–] RedSturgeon@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

Are you sure the world isn't learning? They've seen how much horror you can commit and get away with it. The only one that's ever punished is the loser.

party’s fundraising campaign for Cuba.

I know that's a no-no in Burgerland but I thought most other countries were sympathetic (although take little action to remedy) to the Cuba sanction situation?

[–] starkillerfish@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago

It doesn’t matter how sympathetic they are, banks have to follow the US embargo, or they will be sanctioned themselves. That’s what makes the embargo so bad.

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago

They'll let you buy cigars and alcohol but direct fundraising and advocacy for Cuba itself brings the social fascist eye.

At least in the case of Rote Hilfe, this is most likely due to pressure from the US, more precisely altered banking regulations that expand existing blacklists. Rote Hilfe suspects it to be connected to their legal support for antifascists persecuted by Hungary in the so-called Budapest Complex, which has led to the Trump administration declaring a nebulous "Antifa Ost" as an international terrorist organization.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They gonna do this for AfD too I bet. Any minute now. They atoned and learned from history and we're supposed to praise em right? Unlike those Japanese folk... Hey gotta throw in a non white group for measure. They the model huh

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago

The contradictions are heightening, this limits how much they can contain reactions to the liberal "order". As expected, liberals punch left first and harder while sympathizing with their own right flank. But as those contradictions heighten, they will decrease their own ability to punch at all, so it'll be another race to organize vs. fascistic takeover.
