Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Trump also told the Times that he isn’t opposed to using nuclear force if he “needed it” to take over the Arctic island but that “it might upset NATO," since the island is a self-governing territory of NATO member country Denmark.

I want Donald Trump’s neck in a guillotine. It’s psychologically important to me.

This is America! We hang horse thieves here.

... too painless.

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You say that, but I'm ready for all this to be over and behind us.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

You're gonna be ready for a long time then.

Thats not how any of this works, pretending away a problem and just magically snapping back to "normal".

That doesn't happen in situations like this, go read a history book.

"Normal" is gone, never to return, because "normal" was built on too many lies, lies whose contradictions led us to this current moment.

This country will literally never be the same, it will be fundamentally different for generations, this Trump era is going to be a ... whole distinct defining subsection of our history, not unlike the way Nazism was/is for the history of modern Germany.

There is no pinch me and wake me up from the nightmare.

The nightmare is real, and it will take effort, conviction, and courage to try build something better.

White House correspondent Katie Rogers — whom Trump recently called "ugly, both inside and out" for writing a story about his age — chimed in to ask, "Psychologically important to you or to the United States?"

“Psychologically important for me," Trump answered. "Now, maybe another president would feel differently, but so far I’ve been right about everything."

These were hard times for The Onion staff.

[–] Cosmonaut_Collin@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It must suck working at the onion. Real life keeps using all of your good satire ideas.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 5 points 1 month ago

They might as well transition into the only reliable news organization in the country.

[–] freebee@sh.itjust.works 78 points 1 month ago (7 children)

Maybe the best solution is to build a Truman show like simulated world and contain the Trump problem in there.

[–] Throbbing_banjo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 month ago

Rope is cheap are there are gas stations literally everywhere

I was thinking that Paradox should create a modern grand strategy simulation specifically for him, and just have everyone tell him that it's real. Could even have a fake Fox News going to report on the shit he does in the sim

Where are the Epstein Files?

[–] Doubleohdonut@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

This is the most effective distraction yet; waging war internally and threatening externally.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 25 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I'm so tired of this stupid argument. At some point his "distractions" become worse than the Trump-Epstein files. Starting WW3 is one of those things.

We already have evidence of him being in there via failed redactions, realistically what more is going to happen if more is released?

[–] coyootje@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nothing. The thing he said about openly shooting someone in the street without meaningful consequences is getting more and more true every day.

It's 'Psychologically Important for Me'

He's an emotionally stunted narcissistic child who needs constant reassurance so he can believe he's not a failure as a human being.

He's still a failure as a human being and history will remember him as one.

[–] LordMayor@piefed.social 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He’s also got dementia so he can’t filter himself as well, anymore. His statements are going to get crazier and crazier. He’ll say he should be in charge of the world before 2026 is over.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

He’ll say he should be in charge of the world before 2026 is over.

He might start the war to make it happen.

Sounds like something a rapist would say...

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

He already has an emotional support Venezuela why does he also need an emotional support Greenland too?

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 month ago

"National Security" is the new lebensraum

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Yes by all means let’s prioritize what the child raping bubba blowing treasonous con man wants

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is this real? Because "psychologically" is a word to difficult for his vocabulary.

Why would you deny him an emotional support invasion? It'd be like taking a stuffy away from a dog. You monster.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Finally saying out loud “feels before reals”.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Trump couldn't find it on a map a year ago. The real reason is he can't handle anyone saying no to him.

Ah, so it's his Stalingrad. Hope that works out the same it has for other fascists and empires invading Russia

[–] ClassyHatter@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I have heard about emotional support animals, and emotional support plushies, but this is the first time I've heard about emotional support islands.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 month ago

Trump is wildly familiar with emotional support islands, he used to use his friends island all the time.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 5 points 1 month ago

Of course we all knew it, but I'm surprised he has enough self-reflection to say something like that.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Donald: Why are GenZ's having time off and can do what they want for their mental health? Why can't I take care of my mental health by taking Greenland?
