glasses-on We got Trump because of leftist purity politics

glasses-off We got Trump because of decades of liberals catering to fascists

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 32 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Beautifully stated.

Democrats would have needed to deliver on anything and I mean fucking anything popular to get 56% and keep it forever. It's controlled opposition. They're not trying to win. They're not ideologically aligned with anything besides being the same machine that ratchets the atrocities and dampens popular movements.

You have had this grievance about not liking Hilary Clinton in 2016 FOR A DECADE NOW! Where has it gotten you? A narrow margin after a Trump election (having to ult to keep Bernie out btw)? You had your chance to inspire anyone to see your POV but the PARLIAMENTARIAN got in the way? It was as nakedly ridiculous as any of Trump's antics. That's why there's no change to healthcare, affordability for housing+kids, imperial war, public transport, genocide, FUCKING ANYTHING WE DON'T AGREE ON ANYTHING. AN ESTABLISHMENT DEMOCRAT AGREES WITH TRUMP MORE THAN THEY AGREE WITH ME. SO WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY STOPPING?! FROM MY POV ITS NOT EVEN STOPPING TRUMP ITS KEEPING THE SEAT WARM FOR THE NEXT ONE BUT THE NEXT ONE HAPPENED IMMEDIATELY AFTER AND IT WAS TRUMP AGAIN. DONT WORRY M'LORD I RATCHETED IT JUST LIKE YOU ASKED

you have the glasses reversed here, they are supposed to reveal the underlying message

I don't watch scary movies.

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 2 points 5 days ago

You best start paying attention to scary movies... You're in one.

[–] DogThatWentGorp@hexbear.net 45 points 6 days ago (1 children)

My only response to this in the wild will only ever be "You're right. I ruined it. And I'll do it again if you don't do what I want."

The American liberal fundamentally has no understanding of how power or negotiation works.

[–] Poophammer@hexbear.net 14 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Ill let burn this place into the ground if they dont do what I want lol, its going to happen anyway if we dont bite the bullet now. The fascist arent going away

Kamala Harris believed supporting Israel was more important than defeating Donald Trump

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 24 points 6 days ago (1 children)

A fantastic point; why isn't Kamala taking this election seriously and trying to win?

[–] mattyroses@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 6 days ago

It's bad enough she did that, but then to spoil it for De La Cruz, who actually had a chance, is just disgusting.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 7 points 6 days ago

supporting Isntrael's livestreamed genocide

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 38 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I know it's extremely beside the point, but isn't it amazing how the blame is always solely on the left? Like, it takes two sides for there to be a disagreement, but the zionists sticking to their guns (literally) doesn't seem to register as being a choice, only the anti-zionists doing so. idk dude, maybe you're just a zionist.

[–] mattyroses@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 6 days ago

Wait, are you suggesting the Democratic leadership should.change in any way in reaction to losing to an insane game show host again?

Fucking purity test!

[–] QinShiHuangsShlong@hexbear.net 30 points 6 days ago

They told us both sides were the same while we warned them about [list of things generally supported by democrats] and they ignored us.

Ok bro if you say so just get in the pit barbara-pit

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 30 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Hey I just thought of a new litmus test called “the shit you support abroad says a lot about the shit you’ll support at home” so go on supporting a genocide then, democrats

you don't even need to go that far. there's so many dems who say "ice's mission is great, it's just the decorum bro they need the decorum bro"

[–] Poophammer@hexbear.net 21 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I love to vote for the kick the can down the road party, its much better than the anthropomorphic swastika riding a rascal party

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

i hate calling them the "kick the can down the road party" because they're still doing most of that shit. they're just doing it to people who aren't white enough for the libs to care

[–] whiskers165@hexbear.net 22 points 6 days ago (2 children)

After Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and finally the Kamala Harris debacle I think the Democrats have proven beyond a shadow of doubt that they need a total reboot before there is any kind of unconditional support like, "vote blue". Even if you don't believe they are in on this with the Republicans the best case scenario is political malpractice, criminal negligence. They won't even run on policies that are popular with their base for fucks sake; how can you even be more angry with the nonvoters than the Democratic party itself?

Rationally wouldn't it be easier to petition a few thousand elected Democrats to run on an actually palatable platform than convince millions of apathetic voters to vote for something they don't believe in?

[–] lil_tank@hexbear.net 13 points 6 days ago

Both reps and dems are losing support, but that won't change anything because even a catastrophic 20% turnover wouldn't threaten the power in place if there isn't an organised revolutionary movement

[–] mattyroses@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 6 days ago

American liberalism is secular Calvinism - there is no need to actually do anything, as this world is unchangeable. The point of politics is to show that you are of the more graced population. And that can be measured by how you support the Democratic party.

And like all the religious, they hate the apostate far more than the infidel.

[–] SmithrunHills@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

So uh, who was president when you were supposedly "warning" us about the economic crisis?

"Don't start any litmus test at all" ohhh so you want Nazis in your team. Got it

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

If it's that easy to convince people, wouldn't it be easier to convince the handful of dems vs the millions with any moral fiber?

If you asked me would I rather walk 100 feet or 10 million feet, I'd pick the 100 feet cause that's a lot shorter, don't you think?

[–] save_vs_death@hexbear.net 18 points 6 days ago

uhm, sweaty, we can care about 2 things at once

[–] Guamer@hexbear.net 19 points 6 days ago

Yes, yes, genocide is excusable to you, please face the wall

[–] Salem@hexbear.net 18 points 6 days ago (1 children)

that thread got removed by mod and the comments bodied the poster

Lmao, rare reddit W

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

ngl, even if this was true (it isn't), i care more about people in the global south than i do about people in the imperial core

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 13 points 6 days ago

Wait if they consider this a purity politics thing in the first place then who cares if Trump wins? Where do they draw the line on what is or isn't acceptable? Whether the harm ends up harming us?

No litmus test literally means both sides pass.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 71 points 1 week ago

Even RIGHT NOW, Democrats are voting FOR these things to happen. People these smug fucks VOTED for.

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 49 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Trump using his military on American citizens

So not only was it OK on people of other countries, but also on """illegals"""? how-compelling barbara-pit

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 17 points 6 days ago (1 children)

but also on """illegals"""?

These are the same people praising Biden for being polite with his deportations, so yes

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 9 points 6 days ago

Yeah, I meant it as a rhetorical question. These people are demons, I don't expect any better of them. yea

even from their perspective, the senate and congress WAS filled with democrats in 2021 and they blew it anyway.

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 55 points 1 week ago (7 children)

First time I ever voted the Dems got a supermajority, possibly the best thing they could get via voting, and proceeded to checks notes pass Romneycare and drop bombs on weddings.

Shortly after my conversation with Kagame, I ran into an American military-intelligence officer, who was having a supper of Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola at a Kigali bar. “I hear you’re interested in genocide,” he said. “Do you know what genocide is?”

I asked him to tell me.

“A cheese sandwich,” he said. “Write it down. Genocide is a cheese sandwich.”

I asked him how he figured that.

“What does anyone care about a year-old cheese sandwich?” he said. “Genocide, genocide, genocide. Cheese sandwich, cheese sandwich, cheese sandwich. Who gives a shit? Crimes against humanity—where’s humanity? Who’s humanity? You? Me? Did you see a crime committed against you? Hey, just a million Rwandans. Did you ever hear about the Genocide Convention?”

I said I had. It was passed by the United Nations in 1948, in the days after Nuremberg; it has been ratified by scores of countries; and it says that they will all undertake to prevent and punish genocide if it should ever happen again. “That convention,” the American at the bar said, “makes a nice wrapping for a cheese sandwich.”

God, I really can't understand how these guys can directly say "being anti-genocide is a woke-left litmus test" and then argue that they and their fellow liberals are not fascists, rather than just being the Strasserite ("left" as a relative term compared to the Hitlerite wing) Nazis.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 13 points 6 days ago

These are probably watchers of lib journalists and commentators who implicitly supported the genocide when they said "Our way of life is better"; the slaughter of the global South isn't a crime to them, it's just a little embarrassment.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 39 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't normally hark on spelling errors, but the fact that they can't (or won't)spell Palestine correctly is giving me some bad juju

[–] miz@hexbear.net 37 points 1 week ago (1 children)

the regular spelling is filtered on every western platform now

My first thought is that they did it to avoid automod or something.
