Yeah some stories like this breakthrough but there's tons of other related stories they push down or ban anyone talking about it. look at the politics thread and see how many people said they got a 3 day ban for simplely criticizing what's going on.
AP shared the details of Castañeda Mondragón’s injuries with Dr. Lindsey C. Thomas, a board-certified forensic pathologist who worked as a medical examiner in Minnesota for more than 30 years. She agreed with the assessment of hospital staff.
“I am pretty sure a person could not get these kinds of extensive injuries from running into a wall,” Thomas said, adding that she would need to see the CT scans to make a more definitive finding.
“I almost think one doesn’t have to be a physician to conclude that a person can’t get skull fractures on both the right and left sides of their head and from front to back by running themselves into a wall,” she said.
So was the ICE agent dumb enough to think this was a believable story or did they just not give a fuck if anyone believed it or not? It could really go either way.
The nurses interviewed by AP said they felt intimidated by ICE’s presence in the critical care unit and had even been told to avoid a certain bathroom to minimize encounters with officers. They said staff members are using an encrypted messaging app to compare notes and share information out of fear that the government might be monitoring their communications.

We have literal footage from multiple angles of ICE agents murdering people and the government is protecting them. The agents don't give a fuck. They've been given permission to kill anyone they want and nothing will happen.

Edit. Seems this incident happened Jan 8. Where's the outrage? Do people just not give half a shit unless the victim is white?
Race is probably a component, but a big one is video of the incident getting to the public. Watching an unambiguous violation instead of reading an account is far more powerful, and removes all doubt of witness reliability.
Can we stop with the ragebait? The incredibly, over the top obvious difference in outrage between cases is whether it's on video or not. Why the fuck do people keep pushing this angle? Why are you pretending like video evidence doesn't matter? It's fucking weird, at best.
I'm pretty convinced that Lemmy's politics board is thoroughly compromised. Constant deluge of posters intent on spreading a sense of doom and fear.

Is everyone who says "people only care because they are white" forget about George Floyd? Pretty sure there were very large, nationwide protests for that.
No they didn't forget. They're lying intentionally would be my guess. Anyone old enough to comment on politics right now ought to remember George Floyd.
Oh yeah. And then some. Back around the beginning of the month I got into it with someone here who was trying to play like they live in Minneapolis and know all about the city while they were putting out similar ragebait, except they had no idea, literally none, where George Floyd was killed. Oh, and the "American" genius who was holding forth on all the things the US Constitution says that are not actually in there while having multiple English lapses. That was some shit.
I should add that when I see this, I never offer the specific correction because I want other pretenders like them to fall into the same trap. So I pick around it to let them flounder in their obvious errors because I know anyone paying attention will see it for themselves, and I'd suggest that to others as well: point it out without actually correcting it. Highlight it, quote it, ask about it and all around it, but don't call it wrong and don't correct it, so that they can't use your input to better their game.
To be clear, if someone's not American and you have a bone to pick with the US, so what. Join the club.
But if you're pretending to be American, actively lying about where you are so you can try to manipulate, discourage and get people to give up, then you can fuck yourself sideways with a rusty chainsaw and I absolutely will jam a stick in your spokes when I see it.

Doubt of anything ICE and DOJ says should be the default starting position.
They have shown themselves to constantly lie about all kinds of things and never apologize for any of their lies. They are simply not credible.

This sounds like an explanation the Russian government would give. Looks like those dumb assholes in the I'd rather be Russian than a Democrat shirts got their fucking way.
These people are too stupid and distrusting of science to understand that medicine and forensics can very much know atleast some of what didn't happen and did happen based on the injuries sustained and know that you're lying, and what you likely did to the person.
They just don't care. They know the administration is going to back them, so they say anything that isn't totally self-incriminating. I expect they'll eventually stop caring about that too.
Shouldn’t the agents who brought him in be treated as suspects in an attempted murder case? They should be detained and questioned and charged with obstruction of justice if they don’t comply. That’s what would happen to literally anyone not wearing that uniform who walks into a hospital with a person with life-threatening injuries that appear to be inflicted maliciously.
