I misread the title of the post from yesterday, thought it was eighteen dollars, not one billion dollars. Got me wondering.

Walk around with all your cash in your pocket

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 41 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Physically carry it as coins.

Spend it all on lunch.

Worry about your bills.

Spending 100 million on lunch is absolutely possible. What would it cost to organize a lunch on low Earth orbit? And do that so that you are back on Earth as soon as possible, for important ~~employee span~~ business duties.

Well, one could argue that it's lunch that includes travel as a part of it :)

But good, let's say that the lunch must be prepared of zero-gravity grown ingredients only, cooked using atmospheric friction, and delivered by parachute right at the table. 100 million might not be enough for this lunch, though.

(Also, whicheverinstance Bezos is using, could someone defederate that one, please? I don't want to give it any ideas!)

I'm sure you could get a hundred million dollar coin minted and carry it with you or get your bills to the point where even a hundred million won't resolve them too. C'mon now. Quit being that guy.

[–] Tuuktuuk@anarchist.nexus 2 points 4 days ago

Sorry, got a bit too creative with that one.

Part of the idea was to say that billionaires and trillionaires are extremely good in using their money in extraordinarily inefficient ways. Trickle-down, or whatever they call it...

[–] BenM2023@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

Take the cash on an commercial international flight without prior arrangements being made.

Obviously you could fly it around in your own 747 if you wanted to, but border controls invariably get twitchy when comparitively small sums of cash are transported.

By putting the money in a box?

[–] Havatra@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I did the same misreading lol

To answer the question:
Have a healthy outlook on life where money is an integral part of functioning in a modern society.

Humans are easily addicted to power (a survival trait, in some ways), and money is essentially that, considering what one can use it for (corruption). The more one has, the more disconnected one becomes from the origin of money as a system: A favor system. A healthy life (imho) is one where you contribute to society in balance with what you receive from it.

Have a satisfying lunch. With 100M dollars to throw around, many people will be left thinking "but what if I'd eaten at that other place?" Paranoid that they're not best spending their time
