Does lend credence to the idea that it should be banned though.

If it works, then it's assault, murder, or conspiracy to commit assault/murder. If it doesn't work then it's fraud.

It’s moral and just to murder Nazis.

[–] RobotToaster@mander.xyz 3 points 5 days ago

Perhaps, but I was talking in a more general sense, I assume most of the "targets" of these "services" were not Nazis. Also the law usually has little to do with morality and justice.

(It also raises the question, is it moral to sell fake nazi murders?)

Etsy witches doing what others are afraid to do.

i'm neither on etsy nor do i take money for black magicks. nor do i think any of my "magicks" have any effect beyond being placebos for my own mental health (they make fun little rituals tho) but damn its fun to cast a hex on someone sometimes.

Well I guess they have to go back to putting ads in the back of almanacs.

Dammit! Now where do i sell those love spells and curse potions?!

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Seems to be a pretty big seller base on Facebook!

The general public must have become too aware for Etsy to ignore them (and collect their fees) anymore.

I didn't really know they existed on etsy before the last year or so. There were a few big incidents, weren't there? Big names getting cursed, or something.

On Ebay I think people get away with the scam by also mailing a candle or something.

That and they brought the Mariners to the world series

[–] celeste@kbin.earth 2 points 5 days ago

People talked about that a lot, didn't they? I bet the Mariners are why I know Etsy witches exist.

[–] No_Ones_Slick_Like_Gaston@lemmy.world 20 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Omg where should I go now to curse a public figure?

[–] four@lemmy.zip 18 points 5 days ago

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

Kalshi, maybe?

[–] psoul@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

Why can’t the witches cast a dispel to undo the new rule?! Are they stupid?

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I feel like a real witch would have a spell to solve this.

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Yes but why waste it on the Etsy board room?

Eye of Newt ain't cheap in this economy.

Man, let people charge for their make-believe stuff regardless of religion.

[–] Squibbles@lemmy.ca 10 points 5 days ago

They were too successful I guess. Had to shut them down

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 8 points 5 days ago

Now if only Youtube would ban obvious scam products from being advertised....
