As a Brazilian, I wasn't aware of how many cities and towns named "Iran" we had, especially throughout the state of Amazonas (guess what is located in Amazonas that USA wants to snatch so badly?). Gonna visit Iran someday, but it seems like a long travel. At least the most geographically close Iran from where I live would be "Irã, Paraná". 😅

Now that‘s an explanation! They never heard of Iran as a country and thought it was a random-ass city. And since they didn’t know where it was, they guessed the center of the US!
Iraan, TX is a real place, though it's pronounced "Ira-Ann."
Iraan is the second largest town in the second largest county in the second largest state in the United States, which is the second largest country in North America.

I'd love to think that, but this is America, where basic geography might as well be Egyptian hieroglyphics to most people.
10th grade history we didn't do history, we did maps and had to memorize all the countries. if we sang the song (without mumbling) we got bonus points.

The points chosen so far off from Iran just prove the point in a perverse way. The people are stupid, uneducated, or just willfully being assholes by choosing the wrong places. Just go ahead and lump them together. One set is damaging because of ignorance, the rest due to malice. Pretty much sums up trump and his followers.
Quite a few up in Greenland. Maybe this explains Trump's confusion about that.

Many of them were fairly close, but with 23% in the borders I wouldn't judge that most were, if I look where I think half the dots are it's starting to get quite far into Europe, Africa, India or China. Which imo should all be fairly easy to rule out, but shrug
Americans are extremely dumb so this does not surprise me at all.
