Not sure if I'm supposed to say something to the store, Crest or is this just how shitty toothpaste now comes?

Someone on the line missed the glue on that one (or some similar mistake, more likely it was a machine that maybe ran out of glue or missed the target for some reason.)

Mistakes happen.

take it as a win and fill it with peanut butter for a joke on someone.

Shit happens in manufacturing.

Some day you should tour both a really modern facility and a very old one (I've done work in both).

Sometimes damaged stuff slips through, nothing more.

Contact them via the info on the tube. I've never had anything but a good response when doing so, the QA Dept and maintenance want to know when the system drops the ball so they can improve it.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Yep, I'm in manufacturing and we want to know and to make it right

[–] Zier@fedia.io 10 points 12 hours ago

Call or email Crest, there is a lot number on the end of that tube. Let them know, and make them send you a new one or a coupon for a free tube. That's no acceptable quality, and don't use it, it was compromised. I never use those brands, they are overpriced. I prefer Aim. Affordable and does the exact same thing, cleans teeth.

On the tube, in small print along the back, is a thing that says "tell us what you think" and a way to contact them. Send them that picture and they will likely send you a few tubes in exchange for that one. They will want it for the batch number on it for QA.

I recently bought a perishable that I opened the following day. It had mold on it, while the “best by” date was 2 months away.

The contact info they listed on the package didn’t work.

I contacted the store I bought it from, just to let them know they might have a bad batch

A week later I get contacted back. They said bring it in and the receipt for a refund.

No one at these companies really gives a shit.

I do this kind of work and we really do care. Don't let one company convince you all hate you. Some really do try and want your business and good will. It means they get more business and you are happy, win-win.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Two companies, the manufacturer and the store. And it’s happened a lot in the past.

Glad you’re trying to steer one of them into the right direction.

I messaged them, I'll make sure I give their response here. I just think it's rediculous to buy a product (2 pack) and both be shit that don't seal. It made me question whether they actually meant it to be or they declared it shelf stable

[–] JackFrostNCola@aussie.zone 5 points 6 hours ago

Honestly its more likely that multiple defects would be found in a 'multipack', there would be a higher probability of a material or machine defect affecting a run or batch of products which would then be boxed together - rather than a random item here and there.

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 49 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

This is a manufacturing error that has some how squeezed past quality control. If you spent money on this where it came in a sealed box, refund should be easy if unused. Or at least IME.

[–] Zozano@aussie.zone 24 points 18 hours ago

It squeezed past quality control, huh?

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Prolly using AI and cameras instead of people to check quality now.

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 13 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

They’ve probably been using cameras for QA for some time

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 4 points 7 hours ago

About 40 years

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Yeah when I opened the box I had to pull it to the top. Then realized "don't press to hard" because it will start to prefer the side gaps if you don't go easy.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Sorry I’m lost. Have you tried turning the cap?

[–] Luffy879@lemmy.ml 5 points 14 hours ago

The tube consists of 2 parts, the tube (flexible plastic) and the screw bit (hard plastic)

The 2 have seperated

[–] Hodor@sh.itjust.works 5 points 15 hours ago

It also comes with lead

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 15 points 19 hours ago

I think you're supposed to squeeze it from the other end.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 2 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

OP, how long since you bought toothpaste before this one bum tube? Has it been so long that you have to contemplate if we've entered a new era of toothpaste tube quality?

Some toothpastes have calcium in them as an abrasive, and the fluoride will become bound to calcium over time. In that state, it's not able to strengthen your enamel. What I'm saying is that toothpaste may have a shelf-life, so you should be buying it bit more often.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

I bought a 4 pack about a year ago I think. It's one thing I consider an essential so I keep them under the sink usually
