Literally the most based shit I have read all year

You're saying I get to pass my ships through the strait AND I get to expel Israeli and American psychos from my country?!

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 24 points 15 hours ago

Doesn't matter, if their insurance doesn't cover it no ship is going to risk it.

[–] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 66 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Canada isn’t part of the offer, but I’d be happy if we expelled Pete Hoekstra for nothing other than the joy of kicking that evil fat fuck out of the country.

[–] ieGod@lemmy.zip 11 points 15 hours ago

That guy is a colossal piece of shit.

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 6 points 16 hours ago

It would be awesome if we just did it anyways. Tho Danielle Smith would run with it in the dumbest way possible.

Carney has made it clear his priority is establishing Canadian economic dominance. Perhaps when Canada holds more cards he will leverage them to intervene in Gaza. Perhaps.

GCC US colonial bases are completely destroyed to point, where they are unlikely to be rebuilt. Trump's threat of pure terrorism on Iran infrastructure puts GCC infrastructure and survivability at retaliatory risk, with US utterly incapable or unwilling to divert defensive resources away from Zionazi master.

I'm unsure if quote is real, but GCC needs to, if not outright ally with Iran, assert their full neutrality and disinvest from US and Israel, arrest and deport all US military, seize any remaining equipment, join BRICS and SCO. A worse betrayal to humanity by Zionazi axis terrorist strikes, means desperate measures by GCC to save themselves from Iran, as a bigger threat than Israeli black flag intimidation.

Trump's escalating desperation rhetoric from Yesterday, should be framed as setting up the total annihilation of Gulf ally metropolises and directly threatening their financialization of US economy, and westernish real estate wealth in the region.

It appears to be true with fact checking here

"The claim is indeed true that Iran has offered 'full right and freedom' to transit the strategic waterway if Arab and European nations sever ties with the US and Israel, as per state broadcaster IRIB."

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 34 points 22 hours ago (4 children)

How will Iran protect those ships from Israel and US?

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 58 points 19 hours ago (4 children)

Normally I'd say "isn't that a silly question?"

But considering the guys running this war are a drunk TV show host and an octogenarian TV show host with dementia, I could totally see them just bombing random ships for fun.

After all, it makes them feel like a big boy and it's the peasants' kids that get to endure the consequences.

Some people think it's super fun to beat up small-fingered vulgarians, too

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 20 points 17 hours ago

My favorite bit from Spy magazine (which first called Trump a "short-fingered vulgarian" back in the '80s) was when they published an errata and apologized for calling Trump a "short-fingered Bulgarian" -- the apology was to Bulgaria.

Bombing ships for fun

Like we have off the coast of Venezuela?

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 11 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Israel is also involved. I would be surprised if they didn't bomb anyone trying to take advantage of this offer. Especially if there were children on board.

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 9 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

"You gotta go after the families".

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

That was the Trump quote that made me horrified at anyone who still supported him. Child murderer.

Notably, he has a (adult) nephew that has stood on the side of justice and I bear no ill will to her.

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

He has said and done so many things that would get anyone kicked out of politics 25 years ago. Howard Dean's campaign was scrubbed for an enthusiastic yell. Trump supporters are the main reason why I think democracy is doomed to fail, unless we can find a fair and unbiased way to remove the most vile, stupid and gullible people from the voting pool.

[–] MerryJaneDoe@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

The narrative war has shifted, because "mass media" can now be targeted to a specific audience/person.

In days of old, the narrative needed consistency. It needed dignity. It needed to survive the scrutiny of swing voters as well as the hardcore base. But now, the narrative shifts from person to person. A conservative Republican voter might see articles about how Trump is cutting taxes for businesses, but they won't hear much about the very real concerns - corruption, pedophilia, mental health issues.

And since AI can generate article after article, there's never a lack of propaganda for people like this. They happily scroll their newsfeed, believing every lie.

Ok where is the article I swear the BBC hide this shit to spin narratives

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 96 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's too bad they limited this offer to Arab and European states or we could've done something pretty funny.

[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I must be dense because, I don't know what the funny impliction is. Please explain it to me 🥲

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 12 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

The USA expels our own ambassadors and the ones from Israel in exchange for Iran's permission to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

Thank you for explaining that to me. Idk how I didn't pick up on it sooner lol

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 32 points 1 day ago

I think they'd still honor it. Let's give it a shot.

No fair, I wanna participate too! Can we expel our own diplomats to Iran?

[–] Patrikvo@lemmy.zip 12 points 21 hours ago (1 children)
