Camacho would make a far better president. He actually appointed the smartest man alive to fix things.

[–] SirEDCaLot@lemmy.today 5 points 1 hour ago

Camacho was a GREAT President. Actually paid attention to the fact that his people were starving / running out of burrito coverings, found someone smarter than him to fix a problem he didn't understand, and gave that person the authority to implement a solution without micromanaging.

But there's the other side of it too, that usually get ignored.

Camacho also showed that when someone jerks him around and wrecks the world economy, he will happily send them for 'rehabilitation'. I think there's a lot of people in our government and business world that could use some 'rehabilitation'.

This is a perfect depiction of the USA as it has been for my entire life. There's a nice house over there, that they do things you're not invited to. Then there's where the rest of us live that's torn down and worn down.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 14 points 6 hours ago

He totally trashed the place. Fitting.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 21 points 10 hours ago (3 children)

What a fucking circus. I hope he never gets funding for his stupid ballroom, and he has to spend his entire presidency looking at a giant fucking muddy hole of his own creation, like the Slumlord he knows he is at his core.

[–] badgermurphy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

It would be a master stroke of engineering and carpentry to get it done before his presidency ends even with completely smooth sailing to the end starting today, and the next President, even if a Republican, would likely scrap it as the boondoggle it is.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

It's not going to be properly engineered. It'll fall apart in just a few years, but sound, responsible engineering isn't Trump's style.

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 1 points 2 hours ago

And then pocket the money! What? The last guy did it all the time? /s

[–] krisevol@lemmus.org 2 points 7 hours ago

He already has funding to finish it. They can't continue construction because of the lawsuit.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 5 points 9 hours ago

I have been thinking about this and I don't know if he even needs funding. He just tells construction companies to do things without a worry about a budget and if the money never comes they can probably sue for damages anyway.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 16 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

It figures that this guy's favorite "sport" is two people just beating the shit out of each other. He's the American Caligula, if he could order them to fight to the death, he would.

[–] Omgpwnies@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

With some of the comments he's made in the past, it's more like two nearly naked sweaty men hugging each other and rolling around on the ground together is what he's interested in seeing...

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works -1 points 3 hours ago

If you're going to put a word in quotes, you should at least learn to spell that word. It's "Octagon", not "Octogon".

UFC is better at spelling than OP. Idiocracy indeed.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The only part where Idiocracy was wrong is the heritability of IQ.

[–] Asidonhopo@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

I've heard there are numerous genes which affect intelligence to some degree or another, has this been debunked?

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 1 points 36 minutes ago

Which ones?

That's a lot of eugenics bullshit truthfully. We've not found a genetic component for conservatism and anyone on the left or authoritarians to libertarian idealists. We have found some potential brain markers that one side has more than the other but this could be more likely of environment. If you're brought up to be afraid all the time you'll have a greater sense of fear overall situation which affects development. There have been studies that show lower empathy scores and higher activity in fear response sectors of the brain show a greater trend toward conservatism. Again though, these are not 100% either. It's a trend at best, not a scientific fact.

[–] dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 hours ago

intelligence

That word alone should make you ask a lot of questions about the science behind it

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 11 points 12 hours ago

The construction site (that will probably not go anywhere) is just the cherry on top of this shitburger.

[–] Murse@slrpnk.net 36 points 16 hours ago

Idiocy would make for a utopia compared to what we're stuck with, which is malice. The future we're building is much darker than the one depicted in Idiocracy.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 151 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I bet President Camacho didn’t fuck kids

[–] just2look@lemmy.zip 104 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

President Camacho also put the smartest person he could find in charge of fixing problems.

[–] becausechemistry@piefed.social 33 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Instead of firing all the ones he was legally allowed to (and firing many others that he was not)

[–] Slovene85@sh.itjust.works 12 points 17 hours ago

" 'I have fired the horse catcher'

  • the horse"
  • John Mulaney

Wait until they bring out the Dilldozer.

[–] cdf12345@lemmy.zip 8 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

How come you don’t have your Flock Barcode?

[–] badgermurphy@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

I'm not sure.

[–] DrMartinu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 67 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Used to think Idiocracy was dystopian. Turns out it's the utopian version of events.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 5 points 4 hours ago

"Welcome to Costco, I love you" does sound pretty good right now.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 26 points 17 hours ago (4 children)

You know all those dystopian movies that feature evil people watching the lower classes fighting in a large public ring for pure violent pleasure? We are now in all those movies merged into one badly written featureless film. Can someone find the remote and hit the off button please.

Sometimes I think Trump watched Idiocracy and thought it was an instructional video

[–] DillDough@lemmy.zip 3 points 10 hours ago

Musk actually did... chainsaw and all.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 36 points 18 hours ago (5 children)

Hey! Whoa! C'mon now! That's totally unfair to say!!!

......trump would never take advice from a movie where a muscular black man is president.

Once they recognize that there is are problems and then find the smartest people in the world to solve them, we can compare it to Idiocracy. So far they've done the opposite - made problems worse, create new problems, and got rid of the smart people trying to work on it.

These people are shallow and depravedly hedonistic, sure, but not "simple". They're not mentally handicapped, they have chosen, every day of their lives, to be cunts. To be evil. To care only about themselves because it's the core and only commandment of Western civ: no matter the consequences, get the bag/fuck you, I got mine. American society as a whole might be shockingly stupid and resemble the folks in Idiocracy, but the leaders aren't, they're just very very very evil people, and that's a matter of personal choice.
