It's a four-dimensional hypercube, but that's not whats important right now.

[–] Equinox1289@sh.itjust.works 32 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I was going to make the same joke, but putting it in an Airplane/Naked Gun reference is perfect.

[–] GutterRat42@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Surely you can't be serious

I am, and don't call me Shirley.

It's an alternative front end for lemmy. Lots of instances that make alternative front ends available to their users offer it as an option

[–] turdburglar@piefed.social 26 points 5 days ago (1 children)

so it’s like a winamp skin for our losers-only internet?

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 15 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Except it’s one of those lazy skins that’s just a jpg downloaded as the background and somehow it only lets you listen to Christian Rock.

I dunno if you're lucky or not to see this drama right when joining. When I joined there were so many posts about beans.

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 16 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Beans and denim baby, tough times!

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Wasn't it also saddam hussein?

When I joined it was just people upset over the death of third party reddit apps. I felt right at home.

[–] Albbi@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

You must've just missed the beans, because I was leaving reddit for the same reason.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

That tracks; I was on vacation in SoCal at the time and when I got back, the apps were dead.

I had never even heard of it before this, but that dev has given me immense Lemmy street-cred now. I was on the list!!

The GitHub page links to a live demo page if you want to check it out. I even see your post on there! Screenshot

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 31 points 6 days ago (2 children)

But you won't see my comment! I'm regex blocked babyyyy

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 6 days ago

Luckyyyyyyy. I wish my mom would get me regex blocked, but she said we have block lists at home. I tried to tell her it’s not the same, but she just kept saying It’s all about who you know.

[–] nao@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago

Did they revert it? I can see your post there

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Its a clean looking UI but how do they ban you for using it? Are they monitoring your comments?

For me I like the Lemmy old UI, simple and compact.

[–] dfyx@lemmy.helios42.de 27 points 6 days ago (3 children)

They don’t ban you. The UI automatically hides certain instances, communities, users and posts. This is not officially documented and can’t be configured or turned off.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 7 points 6 days ago (6 children)

You can turn ‘toxic mode’ on and enable all the hidden posts, comments and users.

[–] dfyx@lemmy.helios42.de 9 points 5 days ago

As far as I‘ve understood, „toxic mode“ only turns off some of the filters, not all.

Also:

  • The dev‘s definition of toxic is far from my own
  • Filtering belongs in the backend, not the fronted and should be configured by the instance admin and the individual user. We already have that in the form of moderation tools and blocks. If we wanted arbitrary third parties to dictate what we can see, we could have stayed on reddit.
[–] snooggums@piefed.world 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

What a shitty name for not blocking content.

[–] SGG@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (3 children)

There are some legitimate blocks in there to my understanding, the problem is they were/are mixed in with all the random "this hurts my feelings" blocks so it taints the whole thing

Toxic as defined by one person

[–] Trail@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Brittney is the only one allowed to define it.

It's a dildo that opens a portal to a better timeline than the one we are subjected to.

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 days ago

There is now a cool kids club list and we're not on it.

[–] Eh_I@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (3 children)

It's like if people took that thanos snap thing that subreddit did really seriously. People seem to actually care about whether they were saved or snapped.

That's what it looks like from my chair.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

Full disclosure: i am on the list. But that's not my issue beyond the personal hilarity.

They decided they had the right to censor visibility of users, comments, words, entire instances to those who utilised their interface. And they went to lengths to hide it. Thats a violation. A serious one. Of user agency, of FOSS, of what the fediverse purports to be about. And when discovered they went on an unhinged rant slinging insults at those who quite rightly said "what the fuck, dude". Utterly unrepentant.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

some might be that way, I'd say the majority of people are upset that thanos snapped at all. who gave him the right to snap? not me, that's for sure.
