I am ever so slightly proud of starting the trend of mods bullying lemmy libs when they file bullshit reports. It's just such a chefs-kiss to me

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 26 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

If you were first good on you but I think this was a form of convergent evolution/simultaneous invention. It seemed to just have organically happened on federation.

Also I am fairly certain it was a rare occurrence but had precedent pre-federation too.

That said, I love it every time I see one of these so I thought I would share for all to enjoy. That's how communism works right?

[-] Rom@hexbear.net 23 points 8 months ago

If they didn't want to be publicly owned they shouldn't have engaged with a communist forum

@Lemmesee@lemm.ee How exactly does this constitute support for terrorism?

And does this mean that Israel also supports terrorism?

[-] ThomasMuentzner@hexbear.net 50 points 8 months ago

lets be nice to @lemmesee@lemm.ee , he just did what he is ordered to by his autority . Its probably the first time for him to even encountering the concept of "dissent"

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 22 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I am being nice. I am calling them out because this is snitch behavior, and while this is a fairly innocent example on its face, this mentality can and will get people expelled, fired, jailed, or even killed.

What are they hoping to accomplish with this? Get someone in trouble for joking about the absurdity of reactionary propaganda?

[-] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 50 points 8 months ago

@Lemmesee@lemm.ee I'd also like to hear more

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 40 points 8 months ago

And does this mean that Israel also supports terrorism?

I-was-saying

[-] ExotiqueMatter@lemmygrad.ml 67 points 8 months ago

Seriously, who do these peoples think they are reporting us to? The cyber police?

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 42 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

The cyber police?

Literally yes. I posted a meme comparing US cops to Nazis and someone tagged the FBI account lol.

[-] M68040@hexbear.net 30 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

One time I got a guy on Twitter to try and tag the proud boys to get them to "visit" a vacant lot in upstate New York because he unironically believed the address I gave him.

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 24 points 8 months ago

I once got a guy on reddit to doxx himself and try to get me to come fight him in the parking lot of his sports bar in SF

[-] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 8 points 8 months ago

One time as a teenager I got a guy in youtube comments to show up and wait at our local mall to fight me

[-] heartheartbreak@hexbear.net 63 points 8 months ago

Terrorism is when ur brown duh sweaty

It sure as hell has control of my kitchen, practically everything I cook has chickpeas in it.

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 31 points 8 months ago

Chickpea pasta is pretty legit, too. chefs-kiss

[-] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 8 months ago

It's that chickpeas in pasta or pasta made from chickpea flour?

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 10 points 8 months ago

Chickpea flour pasta is cool and good and also friendly for gluten intolerant people. I sometimes cook for such people.

[-] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 8 months ago

I'll keep a look out. I've never tried it but I've tried other dishes with it and enjoyed them.

[-] AnarchoAnarchist@hexbear.net 28 points 8 months ago

What's the difference between a chickpea and a garbanzo bean?

I've never paid $100 to have a garbanzo bean on my face

[-] ElGosso@hexbear.net 7 points 8 months ago

This is the only joke I ever remember

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 25 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Sabra is owned by Zionists lmao.

[-] CannotSleep420@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 8 months ago

Wasn't Sabra a massacre where zionists slaughtered Palestinians?

[-] Orannis62@hexbear.net 15 points 8 months ago

Sabra and Shatila.

It's also an older term for Israeli settlers

[-] Timberknave@hexbear.net 13 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

They simplified another name in english. In Hebrew there is Tsabra, which is a cactus and was adopted for Israelis born in the lands of Palestine. Arabic writes it with a sin, not a sad, different letters.

س ص

Sabra, the camp, is written with a sad, non-arab ears dont really hear the difference without a little bit of training.

[-] Timberknave@hexbear.net 12 points 8 months ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabra_(person)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabra_and_Shatila_massacre

You can look at the pages in arabic and you'll see they are different. It still speaks to a lot of ignorance/not caring to name it like that though, considering the company was founded only 2 years after the massacres happened.

[-] CannotSleep420@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 8 months ago

It'd be like the US having a fast food joint called Wounded Knee or a noodle company called Mai Lai.

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 12 points 8 months ago

How about the fact the Israelis use American made Apache helicopters to mow down people whose land they are stealing.

[-] WoofWoof91@hexbear.net 11 points 8 months ago

genuinely surprised they haven't already

[-] Wheaties@hexbear.net 23 points 8 months ago

man, i forgot what a great stage presence colbert has

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 34 points 8 months ago

Too bad he made certain "regrettable compromises".

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 16 points 8 months ago

He made one in this very video. Sabra is owned by Strauss Group, one of Israel's largest food companies.

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 7 points 8 months ago

I think that's part of the subtext. Sabra being demanded by the unquenchable lord of the pit, and opening that with and up next is jeb.

He doesn't do bits like this anymore to my knowledge. One of the last times his real humor was allowed. The other was the "I have to do what corporate says or I lose the show".

The exposing super pacs was what was his and Stewart's One Good Shot against the establishment. This applies to about everyone. Then they either turn you to the establishment's favor or they burn you. flattened-bernie

I stopped watching him after the 2016 primaries.

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 3 points 8 months ago

Yeah there was definitely a very clear change in tone when he took over the Late Show

[-] Stoneykins@mander.xyz 48 points 8 months ago

It seems there are a lot of common misconceptions about how stuff works on lemmy. I regularly see people not understanding what community or instance they are posting on. It wouldn't suprise me if this person didn't have any idea who they were reporting content to.

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 70 points 8 months ago

I think a lot of the reddit exodus are so used to reddit "taking care of the riff-raff" that they don't understand that people are actually free to go against the western narrative without being banned here.

[-] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 26 points 8 months ago

"That wouldn't be acceptable on r/worldnews, BAN THEM" frothingfash

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 19 points 8 months ago

That's why I made the post, because it is very funny, and I will continue to do so because it pleases the people.

[-] Egon@hexbear.net 44 points 8 months ago

My phone is broken and I think that leads to me sometimes spamming the same report a bunch of times. Just know it's not intentional.
Anyway Ive reported this 10.000 times for supporting hummus

[-] GnastyGnuts@hexbear.net 43 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

"Terrorism" is simply a term of legitimization and de-legitimization. It legitimizes the violence of the oppressor (in this case israel: "they have to combat terrorists / terrorism") and de-legitimizes the violence of the oppressed (Hamas, but really the entirety of Palestine: "they're just terrorists, they totally just want to terrorize people and be assholes because they're like that").

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 30 points 8 months ago

"they're just terrorists, they totally just want to terrorize people and be assholes because they're like that"

More than that they are literally calling them Nazis now in an extremely twisted justification of genocide.

[-] Spongebobsquarejuche@hexbear.net 40 points 8 months ago

While this is worthy of mockery, i will say that a reason i don't report is posts like this. The fact that reports are not anonymous and are subject of mockery.

[-] Cysioland@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 8 months ago

AFAIR they're anonymous on Mastodon (if cross-instance) so it's Lemmy that does things wrong
