if you were going to invent a religion

Definitely no intention here of starting any new religious movement, most certainly not one that's communistic and anti-individualism at its core

There would be a lot of sex, but also a great deal of eating. Sometimes there would be dancing before, during, or after the sex and the eating. There would also be drugs.

One where the afterlife is just experiencing other people's lives from their perspective while also being aware that you're not that person (like spectating but feeling their feelings and knowing what their thoughts were). A big focus would be on treating people kindly because any unkindness you subject one person to could potentially be experienced by anyone, including yourself, in the afterlife. Obvs you should just not be a dick but shhhh its my fantasy

The religion would be worshipping goats and doing as the goats tell us.. why? They just have an aura about them, something to be feared. I'm a goat fearing goatian are you????

some kind of animistic elemental thing, but not that like "everything is alive", pantheistic nature-worship deal. like super specific with names and maybe a harsh cosmology, like conan's Crom.

like maybe the sun is the eye of an angry, chaotic evil god that is slowly maiming the biosphere like a sadist uses a magnifying glass on ants. or maybe the chief god is a snake that lives in the water and makes it rain/flood and snatches people who get too close to fast moving water.

i have a weird idea of "fun", but i think a cool religion is one that makes me want to draw something dramatic and crazy.

When I was young I really liked the music video for Anna Sun so I'd definitely include like, some kind of light abstract face paint into the rituals.

• there is no hell or penalty for not being a part of the religion
• weekly gatherings happen on Monday mornings (not on the weekend like others)
• weekly gatherings include a free meal and ample social time with the congregants.

A few key teachings:

• it is right to make sacrifices in this life to make a better life for our (collective) descendants (if necessary).

• "full adulthood" and associated responsibilities are to be taken on at about the age of 30. We prepare those younger than that to be ready to take on the challenges of the world once they get to that age.

• people are expected to prepare themselves for old age, and take a step back from leadership when they are about 60 or 70. The goal is the congregation is to make sure that our younger members are equipped to take care of us and our community, so we can enjoy old age.

• adults are expected to treat the children of the congregation as "small people", engaging with them, being role models, teaching them responsibilities (at an age appropriate level of course). The congregation takes an interest in supporting parents and families of the congregation and community at large.

• traditions, rituals, liturgy, and other practices TBD.

My kids and I ~~made up~~discovered a religion in which we receive prophecy from a deity named Splorp when we play video games. We try to manipulate each other into doing things our way by using religious language and pressure techniques. They will either be fully inoculated against this stuff or become cult leaders, and I can’t wait to see which it is

I already did. It’s an amalgamation of a bunch, but basically you worship siphonophores and live like commies hoping to be reincarnated as one. My friend’s siphonophore Jesus.

It would involve robes and big hats like in catholicism, but somehow gayer. And something with swords, swords are awesome. There would also be lots of food. Imperialists go to hell.
