  1. Killed many people by flooding the Earth

  2. Made us all from blissful monolinguals to people of many languages, becuz la tower of Babel, lmao...

  3. Killed some guys cuz they insulted a bald man

How about sending an avatar of yourself to earth to create a loophole for rules you created yourself? 💀

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You forgot that time he repeatedly forced Pharoah to tell Moses "no" so he could keep smiting Egyptians.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I personally thought it was the Pharoah's choice, so I excluded it, but now that I think of it...

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah I distinctly remember learning about Exodus as a kid in church and every time Pharoah was gonna cave to the demands it says "but then the Lord hardened Pharoahs heart..."

Even as a kid I was like "yo wtf..."

  1. If Flood happened when biblical scholars estimate (around XXIV century BCE), it would kill between 14 to 50 million people.
  2. Tallest stuctures build by humans before industrial revolution were around 140-160 meters tall (2 pyramids, Yongning Pagoda, Lincoln Cathedral). So if God was scared enough by the tower of Babel it means he's either top paranoic, have incredible sight disability or the heaven is very low.
  3. Killed ones were kids, and this episode of violence brutal and senseless even for biblical standards bothered biblical scholars so much that tons of analysis were made to "prove" that those weren't in fact kids but young men. As if that make it much better, and i cannot not point how zionist media drones are doing the same thing to Palestinian kids today.

He did put the Jews through a lot of BS back in the old testament thonk

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 23 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's literally a very important point of the Jewish faith that there is a struggle between God and His people. I mean, I wouldn't seriously call it antisemitism, but without putting myself through the pain of reading that article I will just choose to imagine it's some kind of theological point.

[–] Diuretic_Materialism@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago (3 children)

I'm not sure knowledgeable about Jewish theology, but don't they kind of conceive God as more of a philosophical concept than like, and actual big dude in the sky who throws lighting bolts? IDK, I was raised Baptist where God is just an imaginary therapist who validates all your actions.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

There's a funny piece of mythology where a bunch of rabbis are arguing about something and god comes in and says rabbi so and so is wrong and rabbi so and so tells him to shut up and butt out.

There's a lot of different Jewish sects, some do perceive God that way but the more Orthodox ones have something closer to the kind of theology where God is an entity that causes things to happen, materially, and is in power over the universe.

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago

Maybe for some Jewish sects, but Yahweh and “God” aren’t even supposed to be spelled out or uttered by Jews because humans aren’t worthy of calling out his name, so I think he’a generally seen as a real being.

[–] dan42O@infosec.pub 2 points 11 months ago (4 children)

Yah but what about now? Money, cheap labour, state of the art equipment, greening the land.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Oh yeah? Well, uh, by the same logic, God created the n-word

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 18 points 11 months ago

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I don't know what these picutures on stands intend to represent or be but it looks like they are putting the heads of their missing or dead loved ones on a pike like Vlad the Impaler.

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago

God requires his chosen people to act in a different way from others. Judging Israel on a different standard from other countries is antisemitism according to the IHRA, thus God is an antisemite.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Who was he exactly? The rabbi who argued with Alex Jones?

[–] combat_brandonism@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago

I don't remember really, just that there was a trueanon ep about him

[–] radiofreeval@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Wait is G-d just a hasidic thing? I thought most committed Jews wrote G-d instead of God.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I mean, not all observant Jews do that, egh?

With the advent of computers and the internet, rabbinic authorities have debated whether or not this applies to what is typed on a computer or read on a screen. Most have concurred that it does not apply.

The bulk of Jewish legal opinion agrees that the law applies only to the written name of God when written in Hebrew and not when written in other languages

[–] radiofreeval@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago

Interesting, I thought it applied in all languages. Good to know.
