For me, my comfort channels right now are all of Jimothy Cool's channels, and Shortcat. Jimothy makes Pokemon videos, Shortcat makes Mario Kart videos.

A Chinese woman who fixes her neighbors' broken machinery, often farming equipment. Her workshop is an open mostly-outdoor space, so her videos' sound are the sounds of various tools with a background of nature. Here's one of her shorter videos (a lathe repair, appropriately enough) to give you a good idea of her typical video style.

Oh that was great. Thanks!

Townsends. Whole vibe of a white guy larping as an 18th century colonist gives some kind of iffy vibes but beyond that I absolutely adore the channel

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 13 points 10 months ago

yeah but he doesn't make it iffy though, he's very respectful from what I can tell. He may or may not be chuddy irl, but it doesn't matter imo because it doesn't come through in the videos.

He at least seems to be cool and not racist. (cw meat) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwkRWIwZ43A

Came in here just to make sure he got a mention. Jacob Gellar is phenomenal. I also like Noah Caldwell Gervais a lot. He has a ton of super long and in depth videos that manage to actually stay interesting for several hours (some of his videos are loooooooooooong)

[–] Smeagolicious@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Noah's 8 hour Resident Evil series retrospective is perfect sleep material, or for a long boring shift.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Nobody has any right to be able to make video essays as long as his that actually justify their obscene length and yet he pulls it off every damn time.

Also his road trip videos are great

[–] booty@hexbear.net 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm not totally sure I understand the definition of cozy but noted streamer Nor Thernlion makes the only good content on youtube/twitch nl-what

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 6 points 10 months ago

He's bald!?

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

if you like pokemon, there's a guy called jrose11 that's been systematically seeing which gen 1 pokemon can solo the game the fastest. there's a pretty large backlog at this point, and the strategies get pretty inventive at points.

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 2 points 10 months ago

I love Jrose!

Yeah Pokemon be my special interest, I watch quite a bit of Pokemon YouTube

[–] SeekTheDeletion@hexbear.net 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

jimothy

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 1 points 10 months ago

Heracross has broken into my home and murdered me with a swarm boosted cb megahorn. This is insane

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 10 points 10 months ago

Clickspring makes absolutely beautiful clockwork machining videos.

Little Chinese Everywhere makes wholesome travel videos, mostly about China and other Asian countries but also other places.

[–] ComradeSpahija@hexbear.net 5 points 10 months ago

Seconded! I really like to watch her videos when I want to relax, plus I get to learn so much about different Chinese provinces.

There's a channel of a family that live in the countryside in Azerbaijan. It's just farming and cooking - no talking at all. Pure bliss.

here

LGR. vintage computers, technology and gaming with smooth jazz in the background. just makes me happy.

If you want to watch a charming old British man build model steam engines, check out Keith Appleton: https://youtube.com/@keithappleton

Blondihacks is similar but goes into more detail on manufacturing: https://youtube.com/@Blondihacks

Robot Cantina puts tiny engines in regular cars and tests them out: https://youtube.com/@robotcantina8957

On the one hand he does have a bit of br*tish nationalism but on the other hand it mostly manifests as wanting to shoot arrows into fr*nchmen so it's impossible to say if it's bad or not

[–] HelltakerHomosexual@hexbear.net 6 points 10 months ago

i like the Dead Meat Killcount, its the only way i can really watch horror movies. Having gruesome murders explained by a excited dude making silly jokes is actually way more comforting than it should be

[–] wtypstanaccount04@hexbear.net 6 points 10 months ago

Jago Hazzard is my go-to for London railway history. A fun watch, if a tad dull at times, with a plucky narrator.

[–] newacctidk@hexbear.net 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

There are a bunch but off the top of my head Oceanliner Designs makes great, well produced, videos on ships. Very cozy even when talking about shipwrecks

Jomboy if you love random silly sports breakdowns. Very short form, great even if you don't watch sports

[–] RION@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

Marcus of Cosmonaut Variety Hour. Generally just slop reviews but funny and super rewatchable. I think I've watched his Blade trilogy review like 5 times

[–] imogen_underscore@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

not really a youtuber but i fall asleep to Jerma VODs every night lol

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

My roommate loves Jerma, valid answer

[–] Eco@hexbear.net 3 points 10 months ago

martijn doolard is a dutch bloke renovating a pair of stone cabins in the italian alps. gorgeous scenery and so relaxing

[–] soiejo@hexbear.net 2 points 10 months ago

Hazel! Her videos are just "let me talk 1 hour about a very specific obsession in old anime/ video games", it's great

[–] Floey@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

SulMatul. She does in depth game videos that are a combination of playthrough retrospective, when I'm done binging one I feel like I've both played the game and talked with someone for hours about it.

Daniel Naroditsky. For some reason I love to watch chess while eating, and he's my favorite chess streamer.

Posy. Videos with an art, technology, and science bent but you never really know what to expect other than the vibes being immaculate.

[–] Tom742@hexbear.net 2 points 10 months ago

Shortcat is nice, I like Gecko as well for Mario Kart videos.

[–] orbular@lemmy.today 2 points 10 months ago

Soursweet - kind and wholesome YouTuber with a soothing voice. Surprising combo of entertaining and cozy vibes watching his edited sessions of playing DayZ, a PvP zombie survival shooter.

ProcessX - Japanese YouTube channel that's shows manufacturing and crafting processes. No talking but English subtitles are available. Lots of satisfying manufacturing noises with soft classical music in the background.

Jimothy

This advertisement is paid by Gholdengo (TM), do not ban Gholdengo (TM) from SV OU, Gholdengo (TM) is totally fair and balanced.

Jimothy is cool. I also love small-mid-size niche youtubers, I like Aegon of Astora, for a rambly, leftist academic analysis/let's play of Souls game. Infinite Cringe for Dragons Dogma and Yuri VN commentary. Alt Schift/Schwift X/Glidus for their Song of Ice and Fire analysis and ASOIAF conspiracy iceberg discussions, One Piece Podcast, and the nichest of the all, Moosebones for running Monster Rancher 2 PVP competitive tournaments.

18th Century Cooking by Townsends Delicious looking and occasionally strange recipes from the 1700s colonial America.

Food Wishes Delicious looking modern food made by a chef with a very odd speaking cadence.

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 2 points 10 months ago

The only person to mention Chef John! I always put a dash of cayenne on my food for him lol.

Townsends is also great. I particularly love his episodes with Joe Pera, literally the greatest crossover to ever happen

[–] r9seng@hexbear.net 1 points 10 months ago

Thomas Johnson Antique Furniture Restoration - really fascinating restoration of wooden antiques with a cozy presenter.
