This is one of those things you see and instantly your mind jumps to an expose posted 5 years in about how it's actually cover for legal slavery, drug trafficking and human trafficking not to mention rampant SA and physical assault.

My mom is one of those woo-woo left leaning hippies that loves RFK and all his slop content. She also freaks out about one of her uncles being mistreated in a state run psyche institution. I'll have to get her opinion on this take later tonight.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 19 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I've been in psych wards numerous times for my drinking and ymmv on how good they are honestly. It's for sure something that needs to be changed but it sure as shit won't happen under Trump.

This would have been back in the 50-60's when these institutions were getting a pretty bad rap for mistreating their patients. I don't think my great uncle was lobotomized or anything, but definitely some poor care.

look, I've been valiantly wrestling against the impulse to just give up and start doing the work to relocate to China to contribute labor to an actual socialist project (since chinese comrades seem to much prefer that we foment socialism here, based on my XHS interactions), but if it's that or the ADHD prison slavery camp I'm going to start seriously learning Mandarin

unfortunately due to how I'm built I probably can continue to compartmentalize away gender stuff personally despite how awful it fucks my mental, but if I can't get Adderall I'm essentially on a one-way track to homelessness. like I'm functionally impotent. it's fucked that these things even have to be weighed, fucking hell

illegal-to-say

[–] dustcommie@hexbear.net 21 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

From my understanding they don't prescribe Adderall in China, I don't know if it is just illegal and never prescribed or just under very few controlled circumstances. I saw on adhd xhs that they prescribe concerta, vyvanse, and ritalin though

i feel for ya, I'm nearly 20 years physically and socially transitioned so I'm in the same boat from the other side as this gets worse. manhattan

From what I've heard, China isn't the best with letting people get stimulant meds. As in you have to jump through even more hoops then you do here. And you might end up STILL not getting it at the end. I saw some news recently that its gotten better in the past decade, but (just like in the US) its a part of their "war on drugs". I understand where their anti-drug stance comes from, but I hope they reform that aspect soon for everyone there. I was barely dragging myself around before I got my meds. Still working on getting better, but its been 1000x more effective then anything else I've had.

But yeah, I'll either [Fed post] or hop over to China before I dig a single ounce of dirt for these freaks.

OTOH, the only way to make agriculture environmentally sustainable and not physically backbreaking for the people who are still needed for manual labor is to increase the agricultural labor pool and move to an organic-ish production system (organic ag has brainworms and synthetic fertilizers aren't inherently the devil).

OTOH, I do not trust RFK Jr. with the responsibility of implementing it.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Also "organic farming" was invented by a Nazi lol

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, its predecessor was biodynamic ag, which had all this weird stuff incorporating the zodiac and belief in vitalism and burying whole ass animals in your fields. The only really useful bits are "don't saturate the environment with chemicals" and "support soil organic matter content"

[–] AtmosphericRiversCuomo@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The other innovation of biodynamic gardening was, "you can plant things closer together than we were taught", and like, yeah that's probably some ancient technique we just forgot and had to relearn.

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, the European settlers in the Americas were pretty bad at doing agriculture. Reading accounts of the early colonists observing native agriculture is kinda entertaining; it's all stuff like "OMG guys they're producing so much food! How are they doing this while we're literally starving over here, their corn ears are enormous!"

[–] AtmosphericRiversCuomo@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

tbf corn is a heavy feeder and hard to grow, but yeah, only because we foolishly gave up on any kind of traditional methods.

[–] AtmosphericRiversCuomo@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

ancient civilizations arising every time they get good at growing corn gigachad

my dumb ass trying to grow corn agony-wholesome

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

My condolences on your maize troubles. I don't have the space for it :(

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago

Well it's also a tropical grass they were growing as far north as New York, so they were well outside the native bioregion.

To be fair, a lot of science goes back to Nazi discoveries too. Turns out zero ethics allows you to work in horribly efficient ways.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 0 points 2 days ago

No it actually doesn't all their "science" was bullshit to justify horrific crimes against humanity. This take is literally Nazi apologia, in case you were unaware.

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 28 points 3 days ago

If I'm addicted to Adderall then how come I forget to take it so often?

[–] TheGenderWitch@hexbear.net 18 points 3 days ago

okay so they're going really eco fascist

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

wasn't this the background plot conflict of A Scanner Darkly ?

like the addiction treatment centers were using the conscripted laborers with amnesia from carceral programs to grow the illegal drugs that were flooding the streets and creating addicts with amnesia.

its not a 1 to 1, but it's got that ouroborus vibe of the prisoners forced into reproducing the prison thing.

I dig 60s acid head sci-fi, but I am not interested in living it.

[–] KobaCumTribute@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

AFAIK that was based on the real story of a cult masquerading as a narcotics treatment program and rehab system abusing and enslaving the people it was given by the state. I think Trueanon did a series on the guy behind it, because it ultimately evolved into the "troubled teen" industry and those fucked up torture/labor camps? I may be conflating two separate things here though.

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Concentration camps aside, wouldn't they have to nationally decriminalize/legalize weed first in order to use taxes to fund shit like this?

[–] ghost_of_faso3@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

well no because then they would only get tax from it, this way they can just seize it all.

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Seize all of what? Like money seized from dealers?

Sorry, just a little confused. I read the article but it didn't really address it.

I ask because I feel like dumbass stoners would support this if it meant legalization.

[–] ghost_of_faso3@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Seize all of what? Like money seized from dealers?

All of the money, the fed can at any time just come in to any legal state shop and seize everything.

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh, I see. So just from those states that currently have it.

[–] ghost_of_faso3@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 3 days ago

Yeah why tax when they can just take, I suspect the reason why they're leaving it in this grey area is so they can cash in on it at some point tbh, I tend to just assume the worst intentions with these ghouls and drugs.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 18 points 3 days ago

Another day, another reminder I need to get off my lazy ass and make my escape plan.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 18 points 3 days ago

The only people that should be sent to hard labour are people like RFK Jr

[–] REgon@hexbear.net 16 points 3 days ago

You will pry my methylphenidate from my cold, jittery hands

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

I've been rawdogging [except 7 cups of coffee/day] ADHD, so I guess I'll skate by?

[–] Hohsia@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago

I forgot to take vyvanse recently and that was probably one of the worst days in recent memory

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago

I am definitely going to contribute more to society when I am drinking 20-30 beers every Saturday off of ADHD meds so I don't have to return to monke

Any cop that tries dissapearing me is getting buckshot to the head
