I pointed this out in his first term. He is the only president in my memory that didn't walk into the office with a full team of their own advisors and staff members. He shows up with basically nobody but his employees and a bunch of random GOP back benchers because the dude has been in business for half a century without accumulating a single trusted business partner or even a couple of friends. Literally nobody likes this guy.

most of the people he worked with, either was sued, he dint pay, or he threw under the bus to save himself.

I never understood why anyone was prepared to work with him. Back in the day he was always announcing some new business venture he has gotten somebody to back, and he always ended up stabbing them in the back. Oftentimes while simultaneously nose diving the business into the ground.

You think after the third or fourth iteration of him doing that people would have learnt.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 13 hours ago

That's because being his friend is of no benefit. He'll screw you over just as much as he would if you weren't acquaintances, so what's the point.

Outside of business he lacks any kind of personality and views everything through the lens of business, so he's not going to pick up genuine friendships either. It's extremely telling that his only hobby appears to be golf, which of course is a classic networking game.

Funny how when you have a reputation for fucking over every person you make a contract with, no one wants to be around you.

I’d feel sad for him if he wasn’t such a repellent sack of shit.

New York City was screaming.

"Youse never heard of dis guy!"

I was screaming. FFS, he was the laughing stock of America in the 80s and 90s. Jesus, we shit giggles when he came with: Trump: The Game.

Trump's best friend when he was starting out was Roy Cohn. Cohn had a reputation as the most vicious lawyer in New York. Cohn got his start as Sen. Joe McCarthy's attack dog, and he never put down the knife. Cohn was the one who taught Trump that it was cheaper to stiff a small business and drag thme through the courts instead of paying what you owed.

When Cohn was diagnosed with AIDS, and uncloseted as a gay man Donald dropped him completely.

[–] nexguy@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Cohn also taught Trump to always claim victory even if you lose and to never apologize for anything ever.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 23 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Maybe he also taught Trump how to suck Bubba.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 16 hours ago

trump has shown he can deep throat a 1ft+ microphone on a stand.

Completely normal response to balloons.

[–] MyNameIsIgglePiggle@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Crazy that he would drop him for being gay and then go around giving Clinton gobbies

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] Burninator05@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago

Trump gave Clinton a horse?

Reading the Epstein letter that was released today I realized that they both have a fondness for creepy pedo-puns. It's like a sick form of Vogon poetry. Referring to trump's birthday card bragging about raping underage girls as enigmas / their little secret

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What did the Vogons ever do to you to deserve such contempt?

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 23 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I mean they did blow up earth...

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They did post a notice at Alpha Centauri.

[–] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I will always think of this quote when I see "leopards eating faces" even though it's unrelated

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But I've never been to Alpha Centauri!

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 11 points 1 day ago

Typical.

It's only four lightyears away...If you don't take an interest in local matters...

[–] user224 3 points 1 day ago

Understandable. Have you seen how people are?

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Whoopsie daisy? 🤷‍♂️

I recently watched a couple of videos from celebrities who met Donald Trump back in the day. To make a short story even shorter, they said that in private, Trump simply won't stop talking, and the only thing he wants to talk about is himself.

I know that we've all seen him act like that, and we probably assumed he was just always like that, but if he won't even show the slightest interest in a big celebrity because he's too busy talking about himself, then that's more evidence that he's just always like that.

And to tie it back to the topic, a person who acts like that cannot possibly make any actual friends. It's difficult to imagine that anybody in the world has ever actually thought of Donald Trump as a personal friend. He's just a guy who is tolerated because you think you can get some money out of him.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 16 hours ago

everyone except epstein, whom he seems to have genuine connection with.

[–] KiwiTB@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He was also good friend with Bill Clinton.... Who he just used as a cover in the Epstein files release.... He didn't think that through did he.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world -2 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

They were hardly friends, just rich people who crossed paths. You can find pics of any rich person with another rich person, all day long.

[–] halferect@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

Bill and Hillary went to trumps wedding to Melania so I think that's a bit more than just random crossing paths

[–] KiwiTB@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

They were well known friends.

I know this might be a bit controversial, but it seems to me that Epstein was a better person than Trump is.

I don't think he was Trump's friend.

I also think Osama bin Laden was a better person than Trump is. That's probably not as controversial though.

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That might be true, but also so far down the cesspool that I don't care to measure it.

By the mark... Twain!

[–] Trainguyrom@reddthat.com 3 points 1 day ago

Some of the bits of the Epstein emails I've seen made it clear that some of his friends were really just people who turned to him for validation and occasionally favors. Almost gets me to feel a little bad for the guy

[–] makeshiftreaper@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

I mean, he was also very close to Roy Cohn. Another, but differently prodigious monster

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, he used to be tight with Dennis Rodman, right? What happened there?

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Was this somehow as a result of The Apprentice? I feel like he developed some “friends” out of that show. Like what was her name, Omarosa or something?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

trump , through his producers said trump hated black people on his show, and complained how they have to let some of them win.

[–] abrake@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yup, Omarosa Manigualt-Newman. She had her own roller coaster ride with Trump since 2016. Here's a few excerpts from her Wikipedia page:

In December 2016, Newman was announced as one of nine additional members to Trump's presidential transition team. Unlike the rest of President Trump's inner circle appointments, Omarosa didn't have any roots in the Republican party or otherwise conservative or right wing activism.

On January 3, 2017, it was reported that Newman would join Trump's White House staff, focusing on public engagement. Her specific title was made public the next day as assistant to the President and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison.

On December 13, 2017, the White House announced Newman's resignation, effective January 20, 2018... CNN White House correspondent April Ryan reported that White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly fired Newman, but she disputed the account, stating that she resigned. But Newman had secretly taped her firing, and gave the tape to Chuck Todd to play on his NBC program Meet The Press on August 12, 2018.

Newman wrote a book deeply critical of Trump titled Unhinged, which went on sale on August 14, 2018, in which she labels Trump a racist, and states that witnesses have confirmed the existence of tapes of Trump repeatedly using the word "n*****" during the filming of The Apprentice.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Wait. That says Omarosa secretly gathered the evidence that Omarosa was lying and released it?
