Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

[–] UnixSlvt42@piefed.blahaj.zone 47 points 2 months ago (1 children)

As a transbian top, I can assure you, you don't need one for that.

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Anal has never worked for me. It's painful, inconvenient, and overall just not really what I want. 😥

[–] UnixSlvt42@piefed.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh... Well now i feel bad. I really hope you get bottom surgery one day!

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Me too. I feel so incomplete without it.

[–] birdwing@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Personally I still don't know what to do.

On one hand, I'm feeling more and more confident I could have bottom surgery, but on another, I don't always actively feel repulsed by my bottom parts - except for that I cannot bear a child. And that saddens me a ton.

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago

Don't focus so much on dysphoria. Focus on euphoria instead: what would make you feel happy, confident, and sexy?

If keeping your current equipment makes you feel happy, confident and sexy then more power to you. But if bottom surgery would give you those feelings, then perhaps that's what you should pursue.

Don't let your dreams be dreams

Do consult your doctor about PrEP though

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 months ago

Anal has never really worked for me. 😢

I need bottom surgery so bad, but of course I will never be able to afford it. And that's if the government doesn't make it illegal (which is likely coming very soon).

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

oh there's a life hack for that!!

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Is it anal? Cuz I've tried that and it sucks.

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Women only have 1 extra whole. Don't give up your dreams

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Just a note - You should use the word "women" inclusively of cis and trans women. Biological sex is referred to using words like "male" or "female" (adjectives). "Man" and "woman" are words that describe gender, which is more about how someone presents themselves socially rather than how they were born or what body parts they have.

As for people born female only having "one extra hole" - unfortunately for me they don't all function the same. Don't get me wrong, I like giving head as much as the next girl, but it just isn't the same and my hemorrhoids and ibs make anal next to impossible. So, yeah, I'm kind of exhausted from trying to make do with the "holes" I have. It sucks.

Not directly sex-related but I am heavily betting on VR improving enough to replicate senses within next 20 years so I can just hop into vrchat 2.0 with a custom avatar one afternoon and be happy lmao.

I don't know about you, but I'm not letting Musk or Zuckerberg put any chips in my brain 🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️

Like yeah it sounds cool but I know how often computers get hacked. Not looking to add security vulnerabilities to what's currently an air-gapped system.

[–] absentbird@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Brain chips no, but maybe through some sort of trans cranial stimulation, like in cyberpunk novels?

[–] QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

the idea of a hacker jerking you off from across the globe is so funny to me

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

are we talking about the same industry that took like a decade to figure out how to make people stop vomiting while using VR, yet continued to charge the cost of a used car for the headsets?

[–] Habahnow@sh.itjust.works 45 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Lol WTF is this from?! Haha.
