This, absolutely. Their job is to intimidate and scare the crowd into dispersing and leaving. And it's working. People are immediately freaking out and running away. It plays into people's wildest fears. They are on reddit talking about the gas "crawling on the ground" even though when you look at the footage, it absolutely is not doing that. It's dispersing higher than the trees. Someone claimed [citation needed] that the can just says "tactical green smoke". Lot's of people talking about how dumb the cops are for 'gassing themselves", but If this absolutely was a chemical/neurological agent, the officers would be wearing protective gear and gas masks, and that is not what we are seeing here.
So they're hanging out grouped together in a fog that theyre the source of. So they're easy to find and wont be able to see you well from a distance.
This is also true. I don't mean to give them any credit for intelligence. I just figure with their bottomless budget, they almost certainly have a bunch of protective gear that's just been sitting around that they'd be itching to finally get to use if this were truly a chemical weapon scenario.
If they were thinking even a bit they would wear that protective gear whenever clouded im any gas, inert or not. Cause otherwise people will catch on to when a smoke screen works both ways and generally to the advantage of people who arent clumped togerher inside of it. If you throw shit at the cloud, youll probably hit someone eventuality and they can't see for shit on the inside of it.
It's like doing a non lethal boss battle in peace walker. You huck smoke grenades at the enemies who are all clumped together and then run in, cqc and Fulton em and then take the vehicle. You dont drop it by your own feet and hang around in the cloud. This is the opposite of how to use this kind of thinf

How do you or anyone know this? Im not aware of any green carcinogenic gas that springs immediately to mind. Giving someone cancer in several years also isnt a great crowd control method.
The reddit thread said it was likely HC gas and then listed each ingredient and its toxicity. The green/yellow dye (yellow 22?) is a suspected carcinogen and the zinc whatever is some other kinda yucky. The carcinogenic effect isn't why they use it, they just don't care.

yea i bought a gas mask. it offers ballistic protection too. It's a "40mm NATO SGE 150 Gas Mask". Uses filters that of all kind that can filters smoke, gas and/or viruses.
