Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Joe Rogan has suggested President Donald Trump is using ICE raids and fraud claims in Minnesota to distract people from the stalled release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

This would be the guy you enthusiastically helped get back into power Joe.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 121 points 1 month ago (6 children)

Joe is the empty vessel through which corporate opinion flows, uninhibited.

He'll say whatever you want, whenever you want, to whomever you want if you just cover his fees.

He's the white man's Oprah.

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 57 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He’s the white man’s Oprah.

Ugh... You're right and I hate it.

Alternately, he doesn't like the fact that he has blood on his hands.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 37 points 1 month ago

If he admitted he was wrong to back him I'd support it. He could provide an emotional out for MAGA types who may be regretting their choice now. "If Joe Rogan is regretting it..."

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 16 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

He's always had blood on his hands. He was pro trump the first time.

Fuck this dude and all, but I’m not going to look a gift horse the mouth. If he’s even partially waking up to reality, and influencing his audience about Trump’s shitty actions, I’ll take it.

Dictators are successful when they have populist energy fueling them, and I’ll take help from anyone that makes this guy less popular.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago

I agree, but still want Joe to hang.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He's not. He is just trying to claw back some listeners so that he is still relevant to endorse the next fascist that comes along.

Joe needs to do far more heavy lifting. Passively raising concerns is cute, but doesn't come close to the damage done by his Active effort to get Trump re-elected.

When his rhetoric becomes decisively anti-Republican, I'll consider giving him a cookie.

Until this asshole says the fucking words:

"Trump is covering up the Epstein Files"

Then he's not criticizing Trump.

This is what Joe Rogan and every hack psuedo-comedian podcaster piece of shit has been doing. They intentionally refuse to explicitly name drop Trump and blame him directly for literally everything he does.

It gives these assholes plausible deniability to the dipshit MAGA crowd to say "I wasn't criticizing dear leader! I was criticizing X cabinet member or person he appointed! Its there fault! Trump is still our infallible god!"

[–] Zombiepirate@lemmy.world 54 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Absolutely 100% right.

The media was reporting that he thought ICE was being gestapo-like, and he didn't say that at all.

The way it was reported was legitimate journalistic negligence; this guy is a full-on reactionary.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 10 points 1 month ago

This guy was just smoking cigars with some douchebag and accusing all environmental protesters of being foreign agents and tools and traitors or some stupid shit like that.

Seriously fuck this guy, I tried to like him a little, to appreciate him leading his flock to better places on a few issues, but his defense of say, the president's bad faith lawsuits against the media, or attack on environmental protesters, show he's just a cynical tool. He knows better, and those environmental protesters he would be agreeing with in other circumstances as it benefited him.

Joe Rogan and other male cheerleaders like Piers Morgan additionally have fault in why people believe Elon Musk is a genius.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm still convinced Elon Musk and other billionaires are sneaking him money under the table to be their not so covert PR guy.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 10 points 1 month ago

That's probably not much of a secret. Rogan is getting paid by a lot of people for sure. Guy is a tool willing to help the worst people in the world.

Go to bed with snakes, before long you will get bit on the dick though.

It's a little bit like claiming Hitler invaded Poland to distract from his bad policies... But if Epstein is the thing that allows his followers to say "that's a bridge too far" then so be it.

Joe Rogan always finds the right answer, after trying everything else first.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think that's too generous.

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

More like: occasionally Joe Rogan says something that is actually true.

Joe sounds like he just woke up from a nap on a lot of things lately.

Yeah, FFS, Joe. Of course he is. Aren't you so fucking happy you helped to put him into office?

"Nobody could have known Trump would do any of this after I enabled him on my platform and endorsed him to my brain dead army of followers. Jamie, look that up."

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Joe Rogan becoming an overdue antifascist would be a hilarious twist of history. Like I don't think he's ever going to be a leftist, but he seems to somehow be less brain dead than a lot of Americans, and fuck that's sad.

[–] thedeadwalking4242@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

He always needs a conspiracy to stay relevant. These people always do

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd love it if he developed a conscience. He has so many braindead drones that he could really affect some change.

Joe still defends most of project 2025 so fuck him all the way. The media is just giving him props for almost nothing besides a few cherry picked comments.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

A smart, but late moment for a stupid man.

[–] Sektor@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He's not smart, he's cunning. That's why he's rich.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 1 month ago

Fuck Joe Rogan

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

Joe just says whatever gets clicks. He’ll be rationalizing why the files haven’t been released on a show next week.

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Both of them can go fuck themselves. Sick motherfuckers.

[–] SpiceDealer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He should have thought about that before platforming him to his millions of followers. Don't surprised when someone YOU boosted gets elected and does stupid shit.

Well maybe you shouldn't have propped up this particular pedophile, Joe. Eat shit.

[–] homes@piefed.world 14 points 1 month ago

A broken clock…

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Joe Rogan can asphyxiate himself on his own farts since he loves the smell of his own brand so much. Rogan helped put Trump in power, and was happy to do so because he was making money off the MAGA grift. Unless he comes out and denounces Trump, admits he was wrong, and apologizes, it's all fucking posturing to keep the grift flowing.

I'm not interested in this fucking traitorous little gnome's attempts to backpedal from fully supporting this fascism. There is no redemption arc for him.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 12 points 1 month ago

no you did joe roegan, you are part of the distraction from EPstein files, you are complicit. also besides you arnt getting orders from putin to say otherwise.
