He said of this: "saddest thing I've drawn"

The little girl is getting kicked out by her parents because she "will never be pretty", which is all a girl is worth according to misogynist belief.

[โ€“] Mrs_deWinter@feddit.org 10 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Yeah ok I mean that's literally what's happening. But is there a joke? Or something unexpected, insightful, thoughtful, humorous, something special or of any significance other than a random statement? What's sad about it? Why a robot? Why a liebot? Is he lying?

Tbh I still don't really get it.

[โ€“] village604@adultswim.fan 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It would probably help to read more of the comics since it's a recurring character.

[โ€“] Mrs_deWinter@feddit.org 2 points 5 days ago

I see. Thanks

[โ€“] Vespair@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago

Thank you, my thoughts exactly. Tragic is not exactly the same thing as sad.

[โ€“] tetris11@feddit.uk 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

The punchline is the setup. It's an anti joke. Perhaps a bad one, even. Quite rare in this joke landscape, I can see why it needs to be preserved

[โ€“] SalmiakDragon@feddit.nu 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Tbh, I feel like calling this "sad" doesn't do a good enough job of refuting the underlying misogynist belief (that a woman's worth is her looks) that the parents have.

Liebot was this vaguely racist Slavic stereotype character that tried to make Phillip (the otter) cry on occasion. This is probably the tamest one.

just for the record, we started with Venus, but they kept breaking them, so we switched to Mars.

She's hot, but there's just too much pressure to make it work.

[โ€“] Klear@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago

She's got it, yeah baby she's got it.

[โ€“] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 36 points 5 days ago

it's a caustic relationship.

Never put your dick in clouds of sulfuric acid.

[โ€“] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 11 points 5 days ago

But.... I really think I can fix her with a little terraforming.

[โ€“] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 4 days ago

She courted briefly with the Soviets if I recall, but even they couldn't tame her hot heart with a cool island song

[โ€“] JATtho@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

This just a lovely comic, so have a double up vote.

[โ€“] jlow@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 5 days ago (3 children)

O no, this is amazing, I've done something similar but far less cute and funny in the past:

[โ€“] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Gonna have to disagree with you about far less cute, that's adorable.

[โ€“] jlow@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 4 days ago

Awww, thank you! But I love the interaction in the above one so much.

[โ€“] udc@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Whoa those illustrations are awesome ๐Ÿ‘ Keep up the good work!

[โ€“] jlow@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 3 days ago

Cheers! ๐Ÿ’–

[โ€“] volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This is so lovely! I can't read everything the dwarf planets say unfortunately but it is cute nevertheless.

I laughed at Neptune being so happy about having the strongest winds. Truly a gassy planet.

[โ€“] jlow@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh, thanks for letting me know, I'll check that type size!

[โ€“] volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If it's of any use to you, I cannot zoom in on the website (in mobile mode), neither on the pictures, nor on the text. My guess was that this was a feature to not copy your work? On my phone, this ends up being too small to be readable. But I'll assume you did my boy Pluto justice.

[โ€“] jlow@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Really, that's weird, I just tried it with Firefox on mobile (IronFox) and I can zoom. What browser are you using? I also added a link to the poster so it should open the image file (which should hopefully be zoomable?). The image itself is not very big, though, I should probably upload a bigger version โ€ฆ Kinda hesitant to do that since it'll only feed the slop machines but then again it probably won't make a difference anyway. I hate this timeline. +___+

[โ€“] volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

Yay, now I can open the first image and zoom in! The lil' heart on Pluto ๐Ÿ’œ thank you!

I was using standard firefox btw. The two other pictures that are cut outs can't be zoomed or opened, in case you want to know!

[โ€“] jodanlime@midwest.social 22 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I love how the moon is just super happy for everyone involved.

[โ€“] jodanlime@midwest.social 2 points 5 days ago

Not the first time I've been told that, actually!

Our solar system is just a bunch of playful rowdy kids, and the Sun is their bedraggled mother.

Mom is about to explode

[โ€“] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 8 points 5 days ago

This was genuinely fun!

[โ€“] w3ird_sloth@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Why doesn't Jupiter, the largest planet, not simply eat the others?

[โ€“] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 4 days ago

I think that's his eventual plan, depending how much of his fluff is real bluster

Is there a good place to see more without logging into something? I found some on threads, but it requires login after a bit; not interested in FB/X. Maybe time to buy a book!

[โ€“] ladicius@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Aww... They're so sweet.
