A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

I didn't rage bait. It was hope bait. This would be the kind of thing that would skyrocket Linux adoption.

W11 didn't, W10 didn't, Vista didn't.

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

None were subscription based.

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 42 points 1 day ago

You guys fell for the ragebait embarrassingly easily

Microsoft should maybe evaluate why so many people read about the alleged horrible AI+Subscription model and went "yeah that sounds like something microsoft would do." Their brand is in the shitter.

Pretty much every decision Microsoft has made for years has been bad. Why not one more?

If someone posted that Valve is moving to a subscription model, much of the response would probably contain "This seems out of character for them"

It was one of those AI pages filled with ads making shit up again...

But because Microslop has been Microslopping, it sounded too true lol

[–] FirmDistribution@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

it sounded too true lol

that's how a good lie works, you base it on some truths and on current beliefs people hold about a topic.

Or it was testing the waters to see how pissed people were going to be. Roll it back as rumor. Rince and repeat. Until win12 ai pro ultra!!

[–] RustyShackleford@lemmy.ml 20 points 1 day ago

These days, it’s more probable that they were indeed testing the waters. They don’t see us as even a remote threat and don’t mind toying with us to see what the numbers say.

The funny thing was that article was an AI summary of another article, which in turn was just taken down for lack of accuracy. It's slop all the way down.

[–] starblursd@lemmy.zip 3 points 18 hours ago

Rage bait nah there is no rage only comedy

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Yea, and windows 10 was going to be the last Windows OS. I'll believe this article when 2027 rolls and it's still true. Until then, as false as the OG article may have been, and as good as the evidence in this article is, I'm still not going to give any credence to Microslop, because that's the trust they've earned. Fuck 'em.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Its hard not to believe that shit when it is exactly microslops play book.

The AI responsible for writing the article about microslop's new AI operating system has been sacked

[–] thenextguy@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

The article has been completed in an entirely different style at great expense and at the last minute.

According to contacts that are familiar with the Windows roadmap

Who ?

Given that CorePC was supposed to launch in 2024, it’s likely the project has since been scrapped.

Why is it likely ? Says who ?

I’d argue that Microsoft has been pushing to get everyone onto the same version of Windows for years, and now it’s finally almost there with Windows 11. I

They have ? Why are there so many versions of Win11 then ?

The codename Hudson Valley is from 2023 and not tied to a Windows 12, the "radically redesigned" UI claims are just based on a leaked concept from 2022 that was never greenlit to ship, and a subscription-based version of Windows has been rumored to be around the corner since 2012.

Reference ? This is statement is just conjecture.

It seems to me that this report is either AI-generated or AI-researched and has been published without much fact-checking.

Evidence ?

Aw man, I already bought popcorn.

[–] green_red_black@slrpnk.net 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Honestly I was skeptical since I could swear that Windows 11 isn't that old. Hell it was only last year when Microslop killed Windows 10

[–] geekwithsoul@piefed.social 13 points 1 day ago

Had the same thought, but also figured Win11's reputation was bad enough that they might be looking for a reset.

[–] ThomasWilliams@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago

The article doesn't actually say that it would be called Win12, just that it would be like a "Windows 12".

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Oh, good. So everything's rosy and fine then.

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Was the report AI generated?
