I'm not pointing at the post this links to, or the reply I've linked to, but the surrounding context, including replies from the moderators telling them they're not welcome.

But seriously, I haven't seen this problem (since Wolfballs died), and it's probably because I rarely look at All instances or scroll to the bottom of huge threads. Or maybe .ml has blocked where these bigots hang out? I really don't know, just guessing here.-

A phenomenon recognized by other artists as well.

just “don’t be a dick, leave other human beings in peace” kind of common sense.

I would, but feminists didn’t leave atheism (2012) and then gaming (2014) alone. Probably other things before 2012 when I wasn’t aware, and now we are here.

How do these people still fucking exist? I can't fathom anyone not outgrowing thunderf00t and The Amazing Atheist at this point.

[–] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago

That's why I stopped looking other game communities in lemmy beside the one in hexbear and .ml. There's always someone like this idiot commenting.

I can't fathom anyone not outgrowing thunderf00t

Including thunderf00t himself, seemingly. I can't find any SJW videos since 2018, it's mostly just anti-muskrat stuff now.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago

He quietly moved away from the anti-SJW thing, trying to make people forget he was all in on anti-feminism and hating Anita Sarkeesian, that was his whole thing for years, so fuck him.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

didn't TAA outgrow TAA? or am i thinking of someone else

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Yeah I think he turned lib and actually made a video addressing his past mistakes. Thunderf00t also pivoted from being the #1 Sarkeesian hater to the #1 Musk hater, which is definitely a more deserving target, but he just quietly shoved his anti-feminist past under the rug.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Did he ever address the disgusting things he said about SA, including directly to an SA victim?

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No idea. I never watched a single full video from either of these people.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago

Me neither, everything I know about them is from other places. It's well known that TAA had some very gross opinions on SA.

Looking into what no good feminist were up to before 2012.

Or maybe .ml has blocked where these bigots hang out?

i wish it did but afaik it's still federated with incels.world

[–] bilb@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 weeks ago

I like being federated with as much of the network as possible, but I think I understand feeling otherwise. That said, I see .world users whining about .ml users so frequently now that I wouldn't be shocked if they defederated. Some of them can't handle being exposed to communities where their worldview isn't "default" and assumed to be correct all the time and they interpret pushback as intolerable rudeness, and respond in kind. Dire.

The comments on that thread are terrible. Why did I click? Why am I still reading?

[–] Poutine@hexbear.net 1 points 4 weeks ago

Sometimes I forget that the average man is like this. Now I am forced to despair. How are we ever supposed to build a cooperative world when so many people have views like this?

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 0 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

From personal experience posting my content on multiple platforms, Lemmy’s userbase is by far the most fragile one regarding sexism.

Yes, even worse than Reddit, where this very comic had its comment section locked by the rcomics mods due to the hundreds of pissed off dudes crying in the comments. At least they get downvoted on Reddit. Lemmy really is dudebro land, and needs to fix that if it wants to grow further (which I would like as a Lemmy enjoyer).

I’ve said this a few times already, and it usually makes Lemmy users uncomfortable, so I’ll keep repeating it as often as necessary.

yea i believe it, i didnt post it in slop/dunktank when it happen but west lemmy had a huge drama about the meme of "would you rather find a bear or man in a forest" feminists did, they literally started crying about misandry and being sexists and harrasing every woman lemmy they could find because of a meme

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm a man and I'd rather encounter a bear in the woods than a man. Men are by far the most dangerous and unpredictable demographic. You at least know how a bear is going to behave.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

if we take the hypothetical literally i think it depends on the type of bear and whether you're in the woods in the woods and are suddenly less than a meter a way or if it's coming down the trail at a safe distance etc

there's definitely overlap though which is the point. rather be 20 meters from a black bear than 20 meters from a person i didn't expect to be in the same county, rather be 2 meters from most weird woods guys than 2 meters from a grizzly, but not all of them.

[–] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, i overthought it way too much when I first start getting viral. I was sitting there going, "well there's a reason they keep their cars unlocked in Churchill, Manitoba."

[–] Midnight_Pearl@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago

some of the most ridiculous misogynistic "erm actually men are the real victims so shut up about your oppression" takes i've seen have come from lemmitors

i honestly wouldn't be on this platform at all if not for hexbear and lemmygrad; every other instance is either terminally MRA or just doesn't care to take action against incel bullshit

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago

Just like when that meme was going around I feel the urge to say that I also pick the bear.
