"Trump has further eroded America's ability to know reality in order to create more favourable conditions for his strategy of constantly lying."

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 23 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

another checklist item from project 2025

[–] monotremata@lemmy.ca 9 points 19 hours ago

Yep. They cited it as a source of climate panic. Which, like, yeah, knowing what's actually happening with the climate right now definitely will freak you out, but...

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 20 hours ago

We are so fucked

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 10 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Ahh ignoring it and demanding the world change to match what you want to be true... A tale as old as Americans.

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 4 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Considerably older than Americans.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 3 points 13 hours ago

I know but it sounded fun that way

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

*A tale as old as religion.

Nature doesn't care you can close your eyes it's not going to stop

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 2 points 19 hours ago

Did someone tell Nature about shareholder value though?

[–] Emi@ani.social 19 points 1 day ago

Don't look up

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 14 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

They should just tell him they did it, and leave it in place.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

The only actual answer

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Do other countries monitor this? Is the US really the only one?

[–] Venat0r@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

I'd imagine it would've been difficult to get funding for a competing program previously when the NSF previously was quite cooperative internationally...

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 27 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Who the fuck would have any benefit? I know cruelty is the point, but this really doesn't make any sense.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 2 points 9 hours ago

The oligarchs know full well what’s happening, course. Before their strategy was in buying the narrative - e.g. scientists don’t all agree on this (cos we funded and amplified two crackpots), or “we’re actually still in an Ice Age”, or “how to reduce your personal carbon footprint” - but they also know there’s going to be a tremendous amount of anger and upheaval when critical systems of human society start to break down and they don’t want any of that righteous ire directed at themselves.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago

Oil, coal, and gas companies. They are the ones who benefited by the denial of climate change.

[–] luciole@beehaw.org 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If I had to guess I’d say some corporations specialized in fucking up ecosystems bribed him. As a result they will enjoy a short term increase in profits (or at least in stock market valuation) from being able to conduct business unchecked.

And when we convict this motherfucker and his family and his administration of pedophile billionaires, it damn well better be THEIR money paying to rebuild and not the taxpayers. Hold the scum accountable.

[–] Smaile@lemmy.ca 2 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

you will have to fight him for it like last time, i fear he'll do a better job as well

[–] radix@lemmy.world 146 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Covid numbers wouldn't be so bad if we stop testing, and ocean health won't get worse if we stop measuring.

Kill that messenger!

So they wouldn't look up.

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 day ago

A healthy, broadly educated population, which feels safe and secure, are incompatible with, and toxic to, conservative and authoritarian ideologies.

They need you to be sick, stupid, and scared.

[–] ol_capt_joe@piefed.ee 61 points 1 day ago (22 children)

That greasy fuck... Everything he touches turns to shit. How is he still alive?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago

He shook hands with Death and Death turned to shit.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago

He's held together by nothing but malice.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 3 points 20 hours ago

My grandfather had skin cancer and type 2 diabetes and woke up every morning to eat 2 lemon Tastycake pies. He never quit smoking and couldn't really stand or think well, and wasted his money on eBay cars and trying to flee to different plots of lands around the world.

Anyways, he died just recently at 88 years old.
People forget humans are durable until they aren't. Medicine makes it easier to hide and get a couple extra years, but unfortunately for all of us his body will hold on till it doesnt anymore.

Yeah because why do the fishermen deserve to know what the weather is going to be like. How could that possibly be useful.

God damnit man, all this fucking guy does is horrible shit.

[–] wesker 51 points 1 day ago (6 children)

How many decades do you suspect this admin is going to single-handedly set the US back?

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 64 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I’m 36. I fully expect to be dead before things begin improving for the working class in north America as the result of this regime.

Close your eyes tight, clamp your hands over your ears, scream "La-la-la-la-la...". That is trumps presidential style.

[–] alekwithak@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

Considering the private island they just bought and are building a compound on they should care at least a little...

[–] SapphironZA@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Pretty soon US weather forecasts will be done using traditional methods.

[–] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago

To follow the true traditional method, you should ask a witch for a forecast, and when she gives one you burn her at the stake for witchcraft.

He heard "Bouys" and thought they said "Boys" and was like "Bring 'em to me!"

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 1 points 9 hours ago

The Bouys Are Back In Town should be a sea shanty, assuming it isn’t already.

Meh. Kamala would've done the same thing. Or so I've been told by the wise people on the internet.

[–] pack@sh.itjust.works 41 points 1 day ago (8 children)

It is bad. But its sooooo on fucking brand. If there isn't some "respected body" to suggest what you did is bad, then you did nothing wrong. He doesn't hate climate science past it stops him from doing what he wants. But if you can frame it in a way that motivates people against him (less fisheries means less sport fishing, less wild areas means less hunting, no snap benefits means more crime) you nip away at his base, and he doesnt have a ton of support. its marginal vs the voting public, even in midterms.

Anyone clinging to hope your trumper family might be saved, make them explain this bullshit. There’s zero fucking reason other than to rob the treasury of every fucking cent possible. Fuck all these Nazi cunts and fuck the shitheels who voted for them.
