I would recoil in disgust if I ever saw a pro-Palestine activist wearing Bernie merch.

If I saw the person on the left I'd assume they're a well meaning liberal who otherwise has complete brainworms, but still might be an asset for something like mass protest, union drives, whatever else. Maybe. Unsure.

If I saw the person on the right I'd assume they're a cop and or informant.

Rub their arm really hard to see if the so called tattoos come off

They shamed me so deeply for not voting for Her in 2016 that I have voted for her every election since

News from the 50 years in future: 2076

128 year-old Hillary Clinton has said "It's my turn," for the 322nd time as she officially forms an exploratory committee to vie for the 2078 democratic presidential nomination. She also stated "my birthday country birthday so winning" and our correspondents are actively trying to decipher the meaning of the statement.

[–] Rindogang@hexbear.net 35 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Hahahahaha the anarchist logo with someone who looks like a turbo liberal is very 🤌🧑‍🍳

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

how do you do fellow anarchists? Can I interest any of you in Democratic Party entryism and Liberal Zionism?

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

They'd welcome you with open arms, probably idk, don't come at me

yeah there's certainly a very real contingent of people who are like this unfortunately, Anarcho-Bidenists and Anarcho-Bernieists are real

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What says turbolib about that look? Honestly to me, the Bernie beanie is the only incongrous detail.

[–] Rindogang@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Anarchists reject the state and reformism entirely, while Bernie and the DSA are just capitalist reformists

She's wearing what I call a "progressive sanitized aesthetic"... visually edgy but with no more actual substance than your average liberal

People who have actually internalized radical beliefs usually just look like regular people because they know they have to fly under the radar

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Right after I commented, I kind of reconsidered the DSA shirt. I get what you're saying, but I guess I'm gonna be a little more "charitable". I know plenty of people (including myself!) who aren't platonic ideals of their political affinities... but neither are they best described as liberals (much less turbolibs).

but then why are you posting on hex bear dot net

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago

Point taken!

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

Hello, fellow Hexbears.

[–] slacktoid@lemmy.ml 31 points 2 weeks ago

I'm blue (daba dee daba die) vote for me!

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Every without the bullshit message the image gives me heebiejeebies. Most people out there doing anything look extremely normal and not this weird caricature.

Why is there even a vape? Vaping is a part of the image now is it? Why?

[–] sleeplessone@lemmy.ml 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Why is there even a vape? Vaping is a part of the image now is it? Why?

That also stood out to me as really weird. "Yes, let me chuck cloud right as I'm doing a solidarity fist bump with a blue MAGA."

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 5 points 2 weeks ago

You got to to not due from it

Idk about USA but in Poland vaping is seen as hipster thing. It originally was, but now it's more of a "i can't afford cigarettes" thing.

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe it's dmt

[–] lil_tank@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago

The turbolib being paper white is chefs-kiss

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

> DSA
> Anarchist
> Bernie 2020 in the big 26

yeah that checks out. That would be the type of brainworms someone would need to have to fistbump someone still rocking a pussyhat and a "I'm with her" logo in 2026

[–] Champoloo@hexbear.net 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] principalkohoutek@hexbear.net 39 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It is almost assuredly a riff on this

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 40 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oddly this is closer to something the establishment fears than the one OP posted

They don't show you the shitlib's face because they don't want to reveal that she's 86

It's originally from a music video for the song Fantasy by the band Dye with some very surreal horror themes. That's from the end of the video where the protagonist has found herself in a parallel world staring at some Eldritch-looking abomination off in the distance.

Satire.

This has to be satire.

Please. Someone tell me it's satire. I'm begging

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

Commodity fetishism

[–] FortifiedAttack@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

The look of utter disinterest and exhaustion is surely the most inspiring visual a liberal could imagine.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

There's an idea in art and character design, that "less is more." You shouldn't "overdesign" a character or else it becomes messy and noisy, it gets too hard to tell what is going on with them. A character with too many accessories and ideas (especially if a lot of them are redundant) just looks unpleasant to the eyes. It would be like reading a story where a character is described with a dozen synonyms in a single paragraph, it just feels redundant and messy.

Additionally, there's also the idea of "show, don't tell." and this also applies to character design. Real people don't walk around covered in badges that loudly state important things about them. Slogans have their place, but most people generally don't exist as a walking billboard for half a dozen different vaguely related ideas. So when a character is designed like that it just feels fake and forced, like the designer couldn't figure out a way to organically design the character/they have no respect for their audience and feel a need to just state everything rather than let the audience connect the dots themselves.

So with both of these in mind, we can see that this character design is a bad.

[–] pinguinu@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

There's no ideas here because this is AI

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

But I still think it is important to say why AI art is bad, it isn't bad because it is AI, it is bad because AI can't create depth and subtlety in art, and the people who prompt AI have no interest in learning anything about how to make actual art.
