That's how I look at patients when I'm encouraging them

[–] socsa@piefed.social 25 points 6 days ago

Yes. Vaguely aroused but also annoyed.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 6 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Oh yeah that's the stuff - now just hold that pose for a few seconds, I'm almost there...

Just don't lick your fingers afterwards

Gotta love being responsible for sexual predators. Never rare, never gets old

It's obviously a vape, with a dosage printout

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 12 points 5 days ago

Yeah these are fun. Men (and some women) in my family have hearty lung capacity. My dad was a lifelong smoker and always passed this for respirator use during his annual physical. I actually surprised a nurse once with the highest score she'd seen in 20 years on the job. It's not particularly useful, unless one of us wishes to be heard from about a county away lol.

Long day? Dented cranium keeping you down? Well head on down to Melva's High Tech Seances where we'll let you kill a ghost with your own breath. Do not inhale while using the device as your own soul will be destroyed.

Is there a joke?

POV you drunkenly sent messages on TEAMS and how HR has a lockout device on your laptop

Are people not trusted to pinch their own noses?

[–] geekwithsoul@piefed.social 31 points 6 days ago

Serious answer: having been subjected to this by my pulmonologist annually for years, they do multiple runs (often including runs after a rescue inhaler is administered), and it's about precisely comparing the results - so no, they don't trust people to pinch their own noses 🙂

This is just marketing material from Big Nose Clip

Raising soft palate > pinching

Getting ready to do this test right now!

Update. This is the apparatus I used for my test. Also, you don't plug your nose.

Spirometer

Man, I hated doing that for OSHA respirator clearance

[–] Fleur_@aussie.zone 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

For real this shit is the worst. I didn't know exhaling could be painful until doing this. And they make you do it so many times!

[–] buttmasterflex@piefed.social 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Right?! The worst part for me is that there is absolutely no resistance to breathing out. I mentally expected it to feel like blowing up a balloon or something, but it's just an open tube

[–] Fleur_@aussie.zone 3 points 5 days ago

Yeah! On a mental level it makes the entire exercise feel pointless.

When the Breathalyzer shows high blood alcohol content, my dead mother shows up to judge me for it

[–] bennypr0fane@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Acshuallly - the patient should sit in a little glass booth with closed door, and I have no idea why

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago

A measurement technique that doubles as a score is absolutely terrible.
