i liked dunk and egg.

eventually ill get bored and watch this latest crap.

Dunk and egg is legit good though.

yeah, it is. kinda reminded me why i liked the world/lore.

i like the stories of the "smallfolk" because they're relatable and accessible. the shit that focuses on the continental scope of highborn intrigue and their pathetic entanglements, destructive impulses and/or unrealized potential... i just don't care. fuck em all, the inbred Targaryens, the Hightowers, shit snearing toffs.

tell me a story focusing on somebody like dunk or the onion knight, somebody just trying to navigate a small corner of the swirling deathtrap of westeros, whose intersection with the highborn is avoidant.

Its not high art but I enjoyed the first two seasons.

They lost me as soon as they changed the actors. I was just like…whyyyy

I can't fault you, i just really don't unserstand sticking with the show after season 2.

Eh I've stuck with shittier shows tbh, it's alright slop to pass the time, it's not like there's an abundance of extremely high quality films and TV shows nowadays.

The best character died at the end of Season 1. But yes, I will watch it. I've watched worse. Sometimes I just want fantasy slop the same way people read dollar store fantasy and romance novels.

It's the best TV being made atm. I'm confused other people on the internet don't like it more, but in RL I hear quite a lot of people expressing the same positive opinion. I know a couple rewatching it from the beginning again even. I might do the same.

The first season had pretty competent political drama (even if the battles were laughable), and the second season had the only good battle in the series including the original Game of Thrones (what was up with the Harrenhal shit though?). Maybe this new one will by chance be good all around.

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The Harrenhal stuff with Damon tripping balls got boring pretty quickly.

When I watch shows i do it on piracy sites on my laptop and when boring stuff happens i just tap the arrow key to scrub past it lol

Interesting criticism. I must admit I'm not there for the battles, but I still care about them deeply. I agree with the season 2 one being outstanding. I realy enjoy them in season one as well though. It's been quite a while since I watched them now, but what didn't you like about them?

yes. its fun. s2 was real rough but im still invested in the dance

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

Why? To dissect and compare it to Elden Ring lore and see if anything lines up of course

[–] Tychoxii@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago

I think it's great

I grew up nerdy but only in the academic sense. My folks weren't nerds and there was no nerd crew at school. It was only when they sent me to nerd camp that I discovered that the whole spells and pointy-ears and many-sided-dice facets of nerddom. I wanted none of it; being into math was already detrimental enough to my social life without adding in all of that stuff. My rejection persisted for decades, until Gambo was getting rave reviews and I realized that it was silly to deprive myself of slop due to some nerd/dork turf wars from the 90s. I started watching. It turned to shit and went out on a brown note.

Never again. Rule reinstated. If I see a dragon, I find something else to watch.

[–] ryepunk@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

I'll probably keep watching it, hoping they capture some of the battles well (mostly the mud fight one, and the dragon battle at the eye). But the second season was weird.

[–] Gorillatactics@hexbear.net 1 points 2 days ago

The first episode of season 2 didnt catch my attention, so I thought I'd wait until the season was finished. When the season did end people said it wasnt very good and I took their word for it and forgot about the show.

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 1 points 2 days ago

No last season was boring and oddly paced
