whose whole campaign was, essentially "enough of the political crap and focus on foreign stuff, and let's just make the city affordable"

When exactly did the political candidate running on political issues say "enough of the political crap" during his political campaign? And how tf is affordability not a political issue?

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 15 points 17 hours ago

I've never once heard someone refer to Palestinians as 'palis' who wasn't just an out and out nazi/zionazi piece of shit.

wall

[–] miz@hexbear.net 11 points 22 hours ago

from the Sexpestiny subreddit

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 110 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Linking the Destiny subreddit is just cheating. That's an unlimited points exploit for c/slop

[–] dead@hexbear.net 54 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

You shouldn't game-ify /c/slop. It's not a contest. There are no winners. Slop should be associated with shame.

I have 1 metric for what is slop. "Would discussing this with a stranger get me kicked out of a public space?" If you walk into a coffee shop and start talking about the Destiny subreddit with the barista, the barista is probably not going to enjoy that.

A recent example of non-slop that was posted in the slop comm is the reflecting pool discourse. That's not slop. That's co-worker talk. You could talk about the reflecting pool with the barista. Everyone is talking about the reflecting pool shit. It's all over the news.

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 22 points 1 day ago

I like that metric, at least it entertains me lol. A barista would just be like, "who? What? Okay Chumla here's your coffee have a good day".

[–] DelgadoSlims@hexbear.net 58 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Here's the thing about slop: us piggies expect a lot of it

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 23 points 1 day ago

If you think about it this is just optimizing the supply chain through rational mass organization.

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

yeah, remember when v**shposting was banned? that was basically needed because we all knew of the unwritten agreement to not post about destiny and knew that v**sh was being boosted by DGG

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 3 points 20 hours ago

Oh I didn't even know DGG promoted Vaush but that is on brand lol

"He's using POLICY to advance his IDEOLOGY! THAT'S SHAMEFUL!"

Everyone knows you have to go through the checks and balances and speedbumps because otherwise you're no better than those people who keep getting everything they want

[–] TheModerateTankie@hexbear.net 4 points 21 hours ago

You're supposed to disappoint people with inaction while giving tax cuts to job creators! That's how politics are supposed to work!

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago

I wish Mamdani was the second Stalin that these dweebs think he is.

He utilized talking about popular policies to cover up his real beliefs, which also happens to be the same things that he talked about.

Damn "tanlie" mayor.

[–] kleeon@hexbear.net 45 points 1 day ago
[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 82 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i wish mamdani was as cool as this person thinks he is.

[–] rufuscrispo@hexbear.net 27 points 1 day ago

no shit. the core affordability areas of his campaign--rent, childcare, and groceries--are the same things the boss of a company town paying in script would do! get a grip, libs.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 73 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wait, you mean to tell me that Mamdani brought politics into politics? Oh, the horror! Someone, please bring me my fainting chair!

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 44 points 1 day ago

utilized popular talk on affordability in times of high inflation to cover up his DSA beliefs and tankie background

Mate, with all due respect those are tankie beliefs and talking points. Nobody is covering up anything that's just what we've been saying for 200 years.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 62 points 1 day ago (2 children)

”Pro-pali”? Zionazi detected, opinion discarded.

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 41 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Why do they abbreviate it? Is this a shibboleth? Is Palestine a forbidden from exiting their mouths?

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 37 points 1 day ago

Feels like they’re adapting that slur for Pakistanis.

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 34 points 1 day ago

the jews are tirrrrred of writing the full word out.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 20 points 1 day ago

Usually they go for "Gazan" to avoid accepting Palestine as a real thing.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This person definitely says Pallywood

[–] chloroken@lemmy.ml 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Franky Antisemitic is a big white guy from new jersey. it's pronounced "meetitch"

[–] TheModerateTankie@hexbear.net 64 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So the AIPAC candidates lost?

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 60 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah they got BTFO, NYC has gone full Mamdanistan

Ofc at least one of the anti-AIPAC candidates respects Israel's right to exist as long as it doesn't do genocide, but IMO we can't lose track of the greater reward which is the meltdown posts like this one (626 upvotes 464 comments!) Comedy is legal now!

Sounds like pugjesus with all that anti-tankie rhetoric.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 40 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

bringing them into city hall and endorsing them there in front of the press, bringing them front and center to exclusive Knicks-championship celebrations, making professional advertisements endorsing them, using Mayoral security cars and personnel to transport them away from events, etc. Never done by a NYC mayor at least in modern times

doubt

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 26 points 1 day ago

Adams may have engaged in open and comical corruption, but trying to do politics? Well that's a bridge too far!

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 22 points 1 day ago

Yeah there's no way previous mayors weren't also doing this. Makes me think the author only started caring about the position of mayor very recently.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If they go this wackadoo for socdems, they'd go absolutely apoplectic for an actual communist

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 36 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

an actual communist would be an outside context problem for these fucking dipshits, they wouldn't even recognize it or know how to react

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 29 points 1 day ago

Call me Nyarlathotep, because I am unknowable and dedicated to destruction

[–] Trioxin@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 1 day ago

Oh, they know how to react to communism:

[–] Runcible@hexbear.net 21 points 1 day ago

"I was always against him but this is the final straw!"

this made me join the mamdani vanguard as a platoon leader on the armored taskforce for landlord annihilation.
