"lower information voters..."

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 69 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Isn't that what put this idiot into office in the first place?

Not to mention the non-turnout of the low-info dipshit that thinks bleating "both sides" is the height of political savvy?

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

"but her emails[sic]."

The spelling error is the cherry on top.

"But both of the options do a bad thing. I can't see nuance so that makes them all the same, and I'll not vote for either." -- 2024's worst voters.

“I love the poorly educated” -dipshit donnie, feb 2016

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

And he got away with it. Twice.

[–] hume_lemmy@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

One of the few times he wasn't lying.

[–] bluegreenpurplepink@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (8 children)

If this is true, then maybe we should start thinking about events that could be held during voting times that would distract these "lower information" voters from voting. Any suggestions for such events?

24 hour Dale Earnhardt marathon on Fox. All commercials will be replaced with live gun show coverage. Tickets to said gun show are free, and outdoors at a large venue to handle as many people as possible. Ideally somewhere in the Midwest to minimize travel for people coming in. Free flag to all attendees.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You leave Dale out of this just because they love him doesn’t mean he wasn’t awesome as fuck!

Dude came from fucking nothing, hated rich people; he famously ran a rich local car dealer and racer off the track on the last lap of a small local race for like $100 prize(more than Dale had to his name) and when asked why “I’m broke he’s not FUCK HIM”, multiple stories of him standing up against bigotry and racism in his crew.

Dale was a fucking asshole redneck but he wasn’t an asshole for being a hateful piece of shit

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No shade against Dale. He's just good for a honeypot, and your comment illustrates his badassery so it could work. His redneck image is enough to not also draw in casual liberals.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Proceed my friend, 3 would approve of this

Edit: sorry for presuming the worst, I wish more folks knew how fucking awesome he was. I grew up a yeehaw fuck the law southerner if you couldn’t tell

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It would be unfortunate to tarnish his legacy with that of a conservative gathering, but if it's for the greater good, I think he'd approve of the sacrifice.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

If there’s one thing Dale Earnhardt was about, it was spite, bet your ass he would

Raise hell, Praise Dale

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago

That’s a rather genius idea. A big free circus with bread.

I was thinking tractor pull.

Or just about any event where you eat some deep fried dead animal that was put on a stick and/or made into something phallic.

Election Day all-day NASCAR and monster truck rally. Anyone who says it should be on a different day is trying to steal your FREEDOM.

[–] sylver_dragon@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wow, never thought I would be nodding along as I read the crap dribbling out of Steve Brannon's mouth. But, the GOP's only hope is people who are so ignorant of reality that they can't see the obvious lies right in front of them.

Of course, one should never underestimate the Democrats' ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I could certainly see the DNC sorting out a way to fuck over more populist candidates, handing seats to the GOP.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Of course, one should never underestimate the Democrats’ ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I could certainly see the DNC sorting out a way to fuck over more populist candidates, handing seats to the GOP.

Honestly, some of the apparent positions of the likes of Chevalier is going to be something the far right tries to smear anyone to the left of Rush Limbaugh with...they spent years acting like "defund the police" ( 🙄 ) was something not only every progressive was for, but was a plank of the Democratic Party. And of course, that phrase was easily distorted into the worst caricature of the left.

I'm just saying - sure, the "centrists" might easily fuck it all up for everyone, but don't underestimate the power of the terminally online leftist brigade to really fuck it all up, too.

America tends to poll progressive on the issues, but there are certain online types that then do a great job of stepping on rakes and giving the right their talking points.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Most online leftists prefer virtue signaling to winning elections. Many just can't help themselves from pushing too far when someone doesn't share their exact priority list or use their preferred buzzwords with 100% accuracy.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I don't think it's "most" online leftists; I think it just seems that way because the rest aren't posting stupid shit.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That may be true but perception is reality. Most Trump voters aren't buying golden sneakers and scam crypto coins but those are still the ones that come to mind when you picture a Trump voter.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah, I agree with you and Drusas on this. I remember lurking in and sometimes trying to post in, huffing-your-own-farts far left corners of the net like what Boing Boing became just before they took their comments behind a paywall (!).

While the mods and the worst offenders on there constituted a very small part of the group, they did have all the levers and switches, so I think most people gave up and just lurked, or eventually left. I challenge anyone to go read some of their (still public) threads in the later years and tell me that some of the worse examples - that were not taken down, obviously - constitutes any kind of majority in the Democratic Party, or even of the left overall.

It was filled with the type that would pounce if you called any of them liberals. They loved to draw some big delineation between themselves and liberals. A distinction, by the way, that almost no one else would agree with, and certainly no one else but the most online of leftists gives a flying fuck about...

People that, instead of welcoming allies and others joining them in the fight, would rather assign you a list of things to read and groups to join/attend and other tasks as a way to "do the work", because that's exactly how you win over people and build a coalition, FFS - give them homework assignments and subject them to purity tests, Jesus.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 6 points 1 day ago

I think those people are an extremely vocal minority.

[–] bridgeburner@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah midterms are gonne be rigged then

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This should be super obvious by now. I'm not sure what fantasy world all you who think the midterms will turn this around are living. We all knows what happens when you corner a desperate dangerous animal.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Even if the Dems do win, they’ll be establishment “don’t rock the boat” Dems.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 3 points 1 day ago

AIPAC tools. Controlled opposition. Whatever you want to call them

LOL, what paywall? If I hit one, I either prefix it with unwall.app/ or right click and have it search archives... https://archive.ph/st1UJ

I guess actually trying to use the 'net kinda sucks on things like ios (and I don't use Android much, but I think the range of browsers and their features there tend to be better), but on the desktop, paywall is not that much of a thing, except for maybe a handful of places, like maybe substack.

[–] X@piefed.world 4 points 1 day ago

I either prefix it with unwall.app/

Well isn’t that handy as shit. On iOS I’m frequently able to circumvent paywalls with Safari’s “hide distracting items”, and others with adblockers, but there are some exceptions that this seems to work well for. Thanks for sharing that tip!

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

TIL about unwall.app

[–] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 9 points 2 days ago

Have the GOP tried Politely asking the DEMOCRAT MACHINE to Help them Win? THATS been a GREAT Strategy so Far!

[–] kibblebits@quokk.au 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Save GOP? They won. Liberal propaganda to get you to calm down and think things are gonna get better soon.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Given the cyclical nature of American politics and the fact tromp isn't running again means its likely the democrats will win the next election.

[–] kibblebits@quokk.au 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You think Trump isn’t going to run again—or try to?

The next President will be a Republican because democrats have nothing to offer. The best case scenario is a pause to the free fall. But no backing up.

My bet is on Bovino if Trump doesn’t wiggle his way into a third term. If he gets elected, he’s gonna kill a lot of people.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You think Trump isn’t going to run again—or try to?

Even if he was allowed to run he'd need the backing of the GOP and the money boys. GOP knows he's old, failing and unpopular. Donors will have realised he can't be controlled and for many reasons it would be throwing good money after bad. I just don't see it.

The next President will be a Republican because democrats have nothing to offer

At this rate would they have to offer anything?

My bet is on Bovino

As a candidate maybe, but the man is a joke. How you rally people around that? Plus you're gonna have half the cabinet scrapping it out for the nomination. It'll be Vance, Rubio, or maybe Hegseth on the ticket. And they're all problematic.

[–] kibblebits@quokk.au 1 points 1 day ago

How are they going to rally people around something worse than Trump? They love Trump. They want Trump on crack. 30% of the country. They’re gonna vote.

The US is done for.

And, I think Bovino is the “perfect” GOP candidate after Trump. Absolutely gonna slaughter people in the street (more so than now). The GOP is salivating.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Trump may try to run, but it won't happen. Even if a corrupt SCOTUS allowed it, some states would for sure fight that since elections are state level, and he doesn't have the support required to win the general. He'd get his fanatics, but even many staunch conservatives are fed up with his shit. I think him being the top candidate in the general would create apathy amongst Republican voters enough that he wouldn't win a swing state at the same time bolstering the opposition vote.

Dems have to put up someone not named Harris or Newsome and they'll have a chance to get people to the polls for something instead of against something. With the way progressive candidates have succeeded in the past couple of weeks, there are signs of possible change. I don't believe we're there yet, but it's better than the same shit again.

Also, Bovino has no support other than the extreme cases. He doesn't have whatever that charisma is that Trump has, and he's pissed off everyone. Him getting the nom would be great for democrats.

Lucky them, we're crawling with low information people and making more every day.

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Sadly, there's dozens of millions of those.

He’s right in that lower information voters are voters too and need a party that represents them.

He’s wrong in the implied solution that lying to low information voters and screwing them over is the best way to serve them.
