children are the property of their parents

[-] ForeverAndaDay@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

I don't want to nationalize this dweeb, I want him gone!!!

[-] Tankiedesantski@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

Actually, manure will be the collective property of the worker's communes.

[-] LeopardShepherd@hexbear.net 81 points 1 year ago

Any of these bazinga brain dipshits who suggests that people would cripple themselves so they don't have to work and get free government money has never spoken to or taken care of anybody with a disability. Nevermind all the other eugenics bullshit I just read too.

[-] stewie3128@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

He is a dipshit, but there is also precedence for people cropping themselves to get on the dole:

That's so bizarre lol, tiny town responsible for 2/3 of dismemberment insurance claims. The few people I knew that injured themselves on purpose were opioid addicts fishing for a script 😬

[-] 420blazeit69@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago

The town gained infamy in the late 1950s and early 1960s due to the improbably high percentage of residents who put out insurance claims on lost limbs, to the point that many speculated that residents of the town were intentionally dismembering themselves for the insurance money. Although there is no real evidence to support these speculations,

Is there?

If there was really a significant incentive to do this, you wouldn't just see it in one small town. You also wouldn't see it just in a decade or two.

Sure it's not really fair that I make $600K/yr to optimize the ad fill rate by 0.1% and someone else makes $15/hr waiting tables.. but let's not make it too fair.

I can't express with words how much I love this post.

My younger brother is a lifelong conservative and I'm always trying to chip away at his ideology. I think that the most impactful thing I've ever said to him to get him to question capitalism's organization of labor and resources was something along the lines of "We have incredible modern technology that has almost unlimited capacity to change the way that people live and function in the world, and the people who are the most skilled and educated in developing that technology are spending 100% of their time trying to serve you slightly more relevant banner ads.

Talking about mathematical/coding skills as "shape rotating" is a Silicon Valley brainworms dog whistle.

I can rotate shapes way faster than this dweeb

sloorp sloorp sloorp (sounds of self fellation getting more intense with each slurp as the cognitive biases go wild because we live in a society that perpetuates that kind of positive feedback loop)

[-] M68040@hexbear.net 21 points 1 year ago

These guys are navelgaze-y in a way that sets off alarm bells

[-] quarrk@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

Eugenicism aside, technocratic socialist thought is very frustrating because on one hand you have someone who cares on some level, but they completely misunderstand the flaws of capitalism in a way that is dangerous. Unequal distribution of resources, surplus value, is the point, not an anomaly. The bourgeois elements of society would start a fascist revolution if somehow we made capitalism egalitarian. The last thing socialists need to think about is technocratic solutions to capitalism. It assumes too much good faith in the bourgeoisie besides being often technically incorrect (not to be sectarian but I struggle to read anything by so-called neo-Ricardians for example).

[-] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

TBH, I went from technocratic socialism to ordinary socialism precisely because I realized that bourgeoisie would do everything to stop any egalitarian reforms.

[-] absolutefuckinidiot@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 1 year ago

[-] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

Hard labor till expiration. Society will benefit from this maggot's existence if it has to be squeezed out of his body, because clearly there is nothing useful between his ears.

[-] spacecadet@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

The hugely disproportionate income and social/cultural capital received by these super good "shape rotator" dweebs in modern society is precisely why and how they get to this level of unexamined smug fart sniffing.

the mensch in their name makes me think they're more national than they are socialist. yes i dont like germans get over it

[-] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

It's also a Yiddish word, I think he's Jewish.
