Leave a reply here and let's chat if you think you're man (or woman or non-binary) enough to moderate this juggernaut of a Fedi community.

Peace, Love, and Fedi.

EDIT: Moderator applications are now closed. To the ones who made the cut, let's get a group chat or something going so we can figure out what all to do with this thing.

2 picks for me: Stardew Valley, most boring shit ever, I don't see the appeal, seriously how the hell did that thing sold 20 million copies?

And Witcher 3, I own that game since 2019 and I regret buying it, funny thing is that I've finished Dragon Age 1 and 2, which are kinda same genre but I actually enjoyed those games. I guess the old BioWare sauce carried those games unlike Witcher where there's nothing to enjoy in its massive pointless world.

I’m talking about this sort of thing. Like clearly I wouldn’t want someone to see that on my phone in the office or when I’m sat on a bus.

However there seems be a lot of these that aren’t filtered out by nsfw settings, when a similar picture of a woman would be, so it seems this is a deliberate feature I might not be understanding.

Discuss.

Tips on using mastodon? (mastodon.social)

@asklemmy Tips on using mastodon?

I just moved from my old Lemmy account (@dch82@lemmy.zip) to a Mastodon account.

Any tips?

I'm feeling so uneasy with everything I've been seeing. I keep thinking about what we will be this time next year, and if shit hits the fan, what is your plan? I'm queer and was politically active in 2020, so I would potentially be considered a political enemy.

The only blueprint I can think of is what you do in an active shooter situation; Flee, Hide, Fight.

I know there's that romantic notion of "don't be a coward, get out and protest", but I remember the brutality of the 2020 protests firsthand, and even then I thought "thank god I'm going toe to toe with the CPD and not the CCP". Next time is going to be different. The president now has authority to send drone strikes. Protests and riots don't stand a chance agains missiles and live rounds.

Flee- I have an Uncle in Montreal who my family could potentially use as a way to at least temporarily escape the chaos. The hope I'd have is that Canada and other countries would accept American refugees, however that's not a guarantee.

Hide- If borders are closed, lay low and move away from major cities if possible. If civil war breaks out, try to get away from the violence even if you think your side will win. Todays losers may be tomorrows victors.

Fight- If cellular data/ social media algorithms can keep track of you, and surveillance can make sure there's no movement, this would be the last resort of desperation. I guess if possible try to either find a group for safety in numbers, or conversely go guerrilla as groups of resistance would make easy targets.

Sorry my mind is running and I'm getting scared.

I've been looking at it on and off all morning and I just don't get it.

It's a New Yorker cartoon from 1967. New Yorker cartoons generally aren't especially funny, but I usually understand the point of the joke.

I'll start. In my family, no one can get away with grammatical or spelling misstakes.

In my case I'll say either Bloodhound Gang's The Bad touch or Aqua's Barbie Girl.

I mean.. what the hell is "hanky panky".

But for bonus points, I did also sing "take a walk on the wild side~" with no flying clue what "giving head" was supposed to be.

Sorry if this is not the proper community for this question. Please let me know if I should post this question elsewhere.

So like, I'm not trying to be hyperbolic or jump on some conspiracy theory crap, but this seems like very troubling news to me. My entire life, I've been under the impression that no one is technically/officially above the law in the US, especially the president. I thought that was a hard consensus among Americans regardless of party. Now, SCOTUS just made the POTUS immune to criminal liability.

The president can personally violate any law without legal consequences. They also already have the ability to pardon anyone else for federal violations. The POTUS can literally threaten anyone now. They can assassinate anyone. They can order anyone to assassinate anyone, then pardon them. It may even grant complete immunity from state laws because if anyone tries to hold the POTUS accountable, then they can be assassinated too. This is some Putin-level dictator stuff.

I feel like this is unbelievable and acknowledge that I may be wayyy off. Am I misunderstanding something?? Do I need to calm down?

Not an American, but I just noticed that the election day is on the 5th of November. Given the similarities between Trump and the chancellor, it seems like a good opportunity to remind people what is coming if they vote for Trump.

For those who haven't watched V for Vendetta, do it, the reference will make sense.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November,

Gunpowder, treason and plot.

I see no reason

Why gunpowder treason

Should ever be forgot.

I've been looking into feng shui lately, specifically the concepts about what makes a person feel more safe or at ease in a space, such as relaxing or sleeping facing the entrance / exit.

While reading, I came across the guidance that you should always shut your toilet seat to prevent your good fortune from being flushed. The real reason you should keep it shut is so it can't mist shit-water all over your toothbrush every time you flush. Also so your pets don't drink out of it.

What other things did humans throughout history accidentally get right?

My calendar application changed the method to add events and broke my workflow.

My workaround: I typed basic schedule info into Perplexity and have it convert the data to a CSV file and import it.

To be able to live a little more relaxed, I only read new messages once or twice a day, only more often in exceptional cases (for example when a birthday or a deadline is approaching). The rest of the time, the phone is in flight mode.

Fortunately, I haven't had any problems with it yet, but what about you? And how have you responded to stupid demands?

Mine was having the sudden urge to hurl a random toddler who was teetering over the edge of a waterfall.

I’m new to the bidet scene, and this one has me slightly confounded. Should I install a new towel rack next to the toilet? Should my wife and I share the towel? Do you wipe first? There are so many unanswered questions in the ways of bidet-ing!
