They charge the highest rates in the known universe for every type of service.

(And have what amounts to a monopoly on telecom, sports, news, and entertainment)

How are they in debt? (And why should I give any fucks ?)

Nuh-uh, there's certain underdeveloped areas of Africa with more expensive internet than Toronto! /s

Actually, I can't rule out Starlink having changed the calculus there, even.
