A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

I don't have any sympathy for people who are equally wasteful making overspecced gaming rigs to get that extra fps out of minecraft or whatever stupid shit people use to justify themselves. Especially if they are just crying about not being able to build this months linus tech tips inspired monstrosity. I say they can go fuck themselves.
That's a nice strawman you constructed there, do they give classes on that over on .ml?
C U Next Tuesday.
What does an opinion have to do with my instance?
You don't find the computers people sometimes to be excessive? Wasteful? Perhaps components in general would be cheaper otherwise. Cheaper for everyone.
Maybe you are one of those people. In which case insert greta how dare you meme.
Your turn slick (you had cool and snappy outtro so I felt obligated)
Yeah, that's definitely the take I'd expect to see from an ML user.
"how dare you have more than you absolutely need"?
Gluttony is more than more than what you absolutely need. Try again.
Of all the things to get pissy about, someone splurging on a cool gaming PC is pretty ridiculous.
Takes one to know one 🙃
Does it really matter if someone who likely works hard all day for little money finds a little joy in life? Really it's the billionaires we need to focus on and by taking on OpenAI we're fighting the people who are the real problem in this world.
I do a little bit understand where you're coming from. Maybe someone who owns a RTX 4090 doesn't need the 5090 but how many people really do that?
Tbh it's probably projecting/venting frustration from buying a few (on separate occasions) new processors that turned out to be delidded and broken. Hard to come to any other conclusion (at least for me) than linus tech tips memes gone wrong to get that 10th of a frame performance bleeding over into my hardware.
Per the specifics of RAM. I have a "enough is enough it's probably the cheapest component short of a fan component" mentality. But I have a stockpile, buy the cheapest shit, and who the hell am I to judge? People do some wild cool stuff home labbing.
Sorry if it came across the wrong way, I wasn't aiming at our community.
