The $25 million have been a good investment, considering Trump in turn does things like Project Stargate to send $500 billion towards companies like OpenAI.

Whatever came of Project Stargate. Did they follow up on it? Maybe the US taxpayer should be upset. But then there's just so much other outrages for them.
I can tell you what OpenAI is most afraid of: open weights models.
They’re pitched as dumb tools, cheap as dirt utilities, not transcendental chatbots like Altman preaches. If all these companies figure out scaling transformers up infinitely doesn’t work (because it doesn’t), and that tiny, ethically trained LLMs work just fine for their little business automation pipelines, OpenAI’s whole house of cards falls apart.
You can’t make trillions off a race to the bottom.
Pick your poison. IBM granite, Z AI, Mistral, Cerebras API; just get commercial LLM users on something other than OpenAI. That’s what hurts them the most. Because every little conversion builds critical mass towards the “wait, we don’t have to use OpenAI?” avalanche.
Other than that, spread that people in the industry hate Sam Altman. TSMC, for example, allegedly labeled him as a “podcast bro” when it came to them with some nutty plan.
Also artists have long not liked OpenAI.
gamedevs too. I know hundreds, and the only ones trying to push AI are the no talent fuckwits who have always circled the industry looking for the next buzzword they can parrot.
they don't make good games. they don't make good art. they don't make good songs. and the morons are trying to get it writing police reports for fucks sake.
and it's not going away any time soon.
