FTA:

The episode saw Larry David travel to Georgia, where he finds himself wanting to help an exhausted Georgia citizen who is in line to vote. So, he brings her water—and that’s when the cops show up. In Georgia, only election officials can give waiting voters food or water within 150 feet of polling sites.

David’s character ends up in jail, where he poses a la former President Donald Trump for his mugshot.

Greene didn’t find any of this funny. She tweeted that the episode “lied and painted GA conservatives and Trump supporters as racists and red necks and made fun of our good new law that stops the Stacey Abrams vote pandering machine and prevents voter fraud.”

Thats literally the shitty fucking law they passed. If seeing it in practice is so fucking offensive to you then IT'S A SHITTY OFFENSIVE LAW.

[-] gregorum@lemm.ee 44 points 6 months ago

Exactly. Facing the consequences of your actions is not a state of victimhood.

Just remember: if ever you think you aren't qualified to be in Congress, the bar is people like MTG, Boebert, and Santos.

[-] gregorum@lemm.ee 63 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Santos was a crazy person, but holy hell, he was hilarious! Part of me thinks he was a plant from all of the late night talk show hosts to provide material and boost ratings.

where did those babies come from?!

[-] modifier@lemmy.ca 46 points 6 months ago

I really, really hate to say this, because it is itself a reflection of the ludicrous reality we're living in, but I would almost put Santos more in the category of "bizarre performance art" than any kind of serious political threat.

I'm saying I would not have a hard time believing that he doesn't really give a shit about the republican platform, or any political platform for that matter.

Even more succinctly, that asshole has been doing nothing more than auditioning for Dancing With The Stars this whole time.

[-] hydrospanner@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

I could absolutely see a story breaking in a few years about how he was a paid actor from some political humor show. Like, they wanted to do a segment on just how far in life you could go in America by being a complete fraud.

The further it went, the more out of control it got until their character "George Santos" found himself in an election.

When the studio wanted to pull the plug, a few key players on the show convinced them to let it play out. It wasn't until he fucking won that everyone agreed that the charade was up, and they needed to do their civic duty and leak some of the fakeness to the press.

Incredibly, even after that it took nearly a year for the powers-that-be to step in and do their job, at which point, the showrunners were now a little too scared of the ramifications to own up to it, until the media frenzy had died down.

[-] gregorum@lemm.ee 4 points 6 months ago

Fast forward to 2025: George Santos was Sasha Baron Cohen in disguise this whole time filming his new movie Mr. Santos Goes To Washington!

[-] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Entirely plausible

[-] Twinklebreeze@lemmy.world 14 points 6 months ago

Santos was overqualified. I heard he had a Ph.D. and was working on a second.

[-] Telorand@reddthat.com 14 points 6 months ago

I also heard he was crucified, but then he got better.

[-] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Was that before or after he discovered the Higgs boson?

[-] Telorand@reddthat.com 2 points 6 months ago

Before, obviously. How else could he have started the Big Bang?

[-] some_guy 2 points 6 months ago

He was on The Big Bang? Oh, right. He played Sheldon. Did you know he wrote every episode?

[-] MerrySkeptic@sh.itjust.works 47 points 6 months ago

Streisand effect in 3...2...1...

[-] Gerudo@lemm.ee 12 points 6 months ago

So right...I'll be sure and watch that episode now.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 46 points 6 months ago

Trust MTG to rail against one of the most popular TV comedy shows of all time.

[-] billiam0202@lemmy.world 12 points 6 months ago

The things it doesn't understand drive the Lesser Sporkfoot into a state of rage and confusion.

It is oftentimes in a state of rage and confusion, so much so that many biologists consider those to actually be its default states of existence.

[-] gennygameshark@lemmy.world 31 points 6 months ago

I wish the media would stop reporting on MTG's various brain droppings. It's like, "We get it", ok? She's both irretrievably stupid and an unnecessary mean CUNext Tuesday, can we please move on?

[-] Owljfien@iusearchlinux.fyi 35 points 6 months ago

It's the internet just say the word cunt

[-] voracitude@lemmy.world 19 points 6 months ago

Inapplicable, she lacks the warmth and depth 🥁

[-] gennygameshark@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

I know but I didn't feel like it

Hey eff you, buddy. People can say whatever they frickin want

[-] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 29 points 6 months ago

it was a glaring reminder of why most Georgian’s resent Republicans in our state for inviting the nasty commies from California, the Hollywood elites, into our state by dishing out Hollywood tax credits.

I find it funny, yet not surprising, that MTG doesn't know how to use an apostrophe in the English language. Grammer is probably not her strong suit.

[-] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 11 points 6 months ago

There, fixed it. Yeah it's wrong, but at least it's consistently wrong now.

[-] NeedingvsGetting@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

Thanks, I hate it

[-] clgoh@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 months ago

You forgot: ...tax credit's.

[-] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 5 points 6 months ago

You're right...

It wa's a glaring reminder of why mo'st Georgian's re'sent Republican's in our 'state for inviting the na'sty commie's from California, the Hollywood elite's, into our 'state by di'shing out Hollywood tax credit's.

Find and replace, it's the only way to be sure.

Curb Your Enthusiasm theme plays

[-] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 20 points 6 months ago

MTG, once again, distracting her voters with stupid rage bate so they ignore what little she does for their wallets, roads, and homes.

[-] Skanky@lemmy.world 17 points 6 months ago

Can we, like, just stop posting about this shitstain of a human? She doesn't deserve any of this attention. Don't go away mad, MTG - just go away

[-] elbarto777@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Thank you. The less we talk about this stupid individual, the quicker it will go away.

[-] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 16 points 6 months ago

Why are we talking about Magic the Gathering?

[-] clgoh@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Is there a card to make her disappear, or something?

[-] MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Unfortunately she's like a walking stack of counterspells at this point.

Hey, Sporkfoot...shup.

[-] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 6 months ago

The thumbnail didn't load and I was reading the title of the post trying to figure out how the hell Magic the Gathering was going to protect anyone from commies and get so much money for Georgia. I was not in the right frame of mind for politics.

[-] IvanOverdrive@lemm.ee 5 points 6 months ago

The state’s Deputy Secretary of State, Jordan Fuchs, told the New York Times that Curb Your Enthusiasm’s portrayal does not “not reflect bespoke reality here in ~~Georgia~~ my head.”

[-] some_guy 2 points 6 months ago

This idiot again.
