Get the “ but we’re liberals 🤓” joke out now.

Obviously we’re very far left and vocal about being anti establishment, some things I’ve seen posted here, whilst I won’t admit I agree with :) are pretty sus from a feds perspective. If the site was raided and if people were subject to arrests, what do you think they would be charged with? We’re obviously on a list of course but the same can be said about all people tbh so I don’t really care about that, but since the political sphere in the US is becoming more mask off fash from both parties especially the drump comment about “enemy within” what do you think the future is? Also what crime is committed exactly? Might be a weird example but places like Georgia are racially targeting rappers by using their lyrics as evidence that they have committed crimes, couldn’t something similar happen here on this space? Does anyone have any examples of what the crime committed would be exactly or does it fall under freeze-peach.

I think it’s already been alarming for years but even more so with the multitude of arrests of people in support of Palestine including students who were just present at protests. I’ve seen people on here say we have to be organized etc in order for feds to take an initiative, but who knows exactly.

I just wanna know what crime and what jail I’ll be sent to if it all comes to that

"National Security" or "Preventing Terrorism" would be my guess. It's what they do in so called "authoritarian" countries. US would also do the same if it sees its state power under threat or if a certain leader come into power.

depends on how he (or she volcel-kamala or they (?)) decide to write the order. of course, American Supreme Court won't do shit. im going with up to 5 years (for no good reason, no trial), though its just a guess.

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago

Reminder that indefinite detention of US citizens is legal, and became so under Obama.

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago

Plus they can shove you in pre-trial detention and deny bail if they want to. And if they do let you out they can stick a gps collar on you and restrict your movement.

[-] Beluga@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

That’s not bad

As it stands, nothing on Hexbear breaches the letter of the law in western countries.

But, the reality is that they can arbitrarily arrest those they want to, and the consequent charge and punishment will be equally arbitrary and dependent on what made "push come to shove". Any previous examples will be equally arbitrarily charged and sentenced. So the only realistic answer is:

  • Crime you'll be charged with: Anything
  • Punishment: Anything between no punishment and death.
[-] Beluga@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

But all I do is post fake news? Do you think any federal agent have seen fake news posts? Do they read it with a straight face or do they chuckle a bit

[-] CarbonScored@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago

I have had fakenews blocked since forever because it's truly awful to see. If I was a Federal agent I'd argue for directly funding its active posters.

Nah it's cool, I'm only mooostly joking madeline-bruh

The real answer is, whatever they want to...

If they can argue you've crossed the line, they'll get you on some sort of domestic terrorism charge.

If they can't, they'll get you for drugs or another crime, and planting evidence isn't above them if they need to.

Maybe they'd even fear for their life during those arrests or you just become another "street crime" statistic and they don't need to get officially involved.

They could also black van you if they can get away with it, at which point they don't even need to pretend anything.

[-] thebartermyth@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago

The euphemism is for getting pulled into an unmarked van and killed.

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

Or put on a plane to Pakistan to be tortured, then killed.

"Extraordinary rendition" is the keyword.

[-] Beluga@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

I saw this euphemism in a Connor O’Malley video but they just brainwashed him into some sort of sleeper cell

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago

Nothing, if it gets to that point they'd just kill us. Has the userbase of any forum ever been mass-arrested?

[-] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago

Not even silk road, whose users were collectively doing blatantly illegal shit was treated like that, much less a niche internet forum

Hate speech against anglos, French and Italians

[-] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It's all satire / parody covered by the first amendment. Not that it would do you a lot of good if you're just thrown in a van or held indefinitely without trial which would be the most likely outcome I think

The only no-no is actionable threats and those are against the rules here iirc, and I have never seen them

Our made up internets number will be tared by the Committee for un-Amerikkkan Activities, Who will falsely accuse us of being Russian / Chinese / Iranian [insert who isn't worshiping amerikkka today] haxors, before promptly being proven wrong.

pooh-wtf They will send your ISP a letter, expressing their displeasure. Who will then send you a letter expressing their displeasure of recieving a letter of displeasure.

hahaha Of which we will have a hearty laugh - and toss in the trash after posting our pleasure of their itterative letter of displeasure reflecting how much of a thorn we are to Wall Street's puppets.

They would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling bears. sicko-hexbear-crowd

[-] frauddogg@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

They'll come after us under the same statutes they locked up the Uhuru 3 under.

Being too based.

[-] thebartermyth@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

imo the site would just be shut down in some way. Many of the state's domestic repressive functions are more easily carried out by non-state actors. Like FICO score or getting categorized as 'extremist' in an HR consulting database. This sort of thing materially pushes people into situations where they'd be arrested for something more mundane.

Other than that, there are other forms of carcerality or social ostrisization if people fall outside of social norms in real life. So maybe in IRL we say "hey isn't making kids say the pledge of allegiance every day sorta weird and bad?" and someone responds that it would be unamerican not to and that their dad died in iraq or something and that the pledge honors them... and etc etc... suddenly vaguely left people irl who were gonna join the DSA but didn't ever get around to it are indistinguishable from maoist guerillas because US body politic is ridiculous.

[-] thebartermyth@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago

Like I'm already "on a list", but for completely non-political reasons (crimes lol).

They'd charge us for our actual crimes. You are doing those right? Not just posting?

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

Yeah but they're rubbish non-crimes that are onlu crimes bc the us is a draconian police state.

[-] CleverOleg@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

Asa Winstanley had his devices taken and his house searched by the pigs, even though he wasn’t charged with anything. This was in the UK where that’s a lot easier for them to do than in the US, but laws are changing every day.

I bring up Asa because I’m familiar with his work and his social media, and I can say what he says is tame compared to us. We’re all pretty openly very supportive of Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran (just yesterday I was asking if someone could help make an Al-Qassam Brigades wallpaper). If we got hit for anything, I think it would be for “supporting terrorism”.

Granted, I really think that would only involve trying to shut down the website, which we could always just create a new one in a worst case scenario. I don’t think going after individual users is really on the table, that would require NSA type action and the feds aren’t going to break out those resources on some poxy commie website.

Can see it happen and it would be comical. How long was that shithole child pron den 4kl@n or st@rmfart both of who produced several shooters allowed to run. You so much as turn ya head left feds are on you like flies on shit

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

All kinds of conspiracy charges, terroristic threats, shit like that. I think they just throw everything they can possibly think of at the wall to see what sticks.

Acting against the interests of wheat and corn lobbies with our bean-lies beanis

[-] D61@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

Delinquency of minors, terroristic threatening, supporting terrorist States, conspiracy to riot (any posts detailing what to do during protests, sit-ins, building occupations), being/supporting communists/communism (pretty sure there's still laws all over the books from the red scare days that could be used) just off the top of my head.

Doubt most of the charges would stick but that won't matter as anybody who gets scooped up is likely to be broke enough that having all your computer gear (cell phones, router, computer, laptop, tablets) disappeared, missing enough days of work to be fired, expected to pay whatever "fees and penalties" can be thought of, flagged in some background check databases as a "person of interest" or something can go a long way in making life unpleasant without being thrown in the hoosegow.

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 10 points 2 days ago

You can beat the rap but you can't beat the ride.

I think they've been using this as a tactic for the last decade or so. It doesn't matter if they get convictions if they can ruin your life with pre-trial detention, probation, forcing you to attend hearings far from home, character assassination, subpoenas, stealing everything you own and holding it as "evidence". They don't need to convict you to break you.

Meh, Feds going after this site but not 4ch?

I guess depending on which country you live maybe if you post here your intentions to give lots of kisses and hugs to your local president or something and then actualy go and do it, perhaps that sort of attempt could lead to an FBI intervention. Otherwise I seriously doubt anyone cares.

Someone should check on Mr Roger's and see if he is still keeping track of this website for his "research"(the guy with the only result for HB on Google scholar)

[-] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 2 days ago

Extremely unlikely purely due to the optics and inevitable pushback. Simply isn't worth it for any government to go far because it will explode in their faces.

What they will do is what they've been doing. Make protesting more and more illegal and then when people go from rhetoric (which they don't care about... they just don't. Everyone here chirping is powerless) to actual action and get arrested under newer more draconian laws, the prosecutors won't have anything to pin most people with, but oh oops look this guy posts two years ago he thought it would be funny to bring soup cans to a protest. If you have a shitty lawyer... might just be fucked. Probably get charged with some bullshit about attempting to incite a riot. Maybe Stephen "Adolf" Miller will get some executive orders pushed through instructing the FBI/ATF/NSA (whoever else) to broaden the definition of terrorism to include being vocally anti-Israel or anti-police so when you get picked up protesting your life gets stamped out.

As far as some sort of goonsquad Gestapo going door to door arresting the best posters... never say never, etc. but that's one of the most unlikely events, imo. The feds love and have a history of "let them cook..." then they throw everything you ever said ever in your face in court. Make some prominent "examples", the chirping quiets down, they got what they wanted.

[-] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

As far as some sort of goonsquad Gestapo going door to door arresting the best posters...

It's also a waste of resources. Even if you were summarily executing anyone who uses the word "problematic" or "imperialist" online, the amount of people and material resources needed to get that done is huge, with relatively no pay-off. Any frothingfash who's already on board with anything fascist the government does will not care too much, and it's likely many other, less radicalized people won't like it when friends and family are disappearing constantly into black vans.
