A surging and surprising rise of communism following current events would be so fucking funny through this lens. Like all of this evil was to train some hidden main character about how important it is to protect the communism the same way the anti-spirals entrusted the universe to Simon

It's universally understated, but these people don't believe in anything other than a mechanical and fanatical iteration of neoliberalism, their conception of humanity is nihilistic and they don't entertain any notions of principles, convictions, or vision outside themselves. They are god, everyone else is a pretender

Margaret Thatcher was not fuckin around when she coined neoliberalism's credo: "There’s No Such Thing as Society"

Connolly supported military intervention in Syria. He voted to provide Israel with support following 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. In the wake of the attack, he voted against recognizing anti-Zionism as a form of antisemitism.

Connolly voted in favor of three military aid package supplementals for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan respectively in April 2024, along with most Democrats. After all three bills successfully passed the House, he criticized House Republicans for delaying voting

The whole of American society is perfectly represented by a choice between this and Adolf Hitler. You don’t get to make the choice, but what’s important is that we all agree there can be no alternative.

Additionally, there is nothing the geriatric neolib wants more than to compromise/work with Hitler. Bipartisanship is their golden goose and as long as they do that they will go to neolib heaven.

Well, what do you expect them to do about it? It's not like this is a problem that could be solved by voting! ...wait

We just kind of don't really believe in the future anymore in general. Least, not in any practical ways.

Despite the so-called bleeding heart liberal nature of the american youth, a phenomenon that has supposedly existed well before the current century, the leaders of the liberal movement in the American state are somehow the oldest and most desperate to hold onto power into their graves.

The condescending nature of the typical democrat probably works really well to serve a gerontocratic system as perfected as the democratic party.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villian. Seems like the worst case.

[–] D61@hexbear.net 1 points 2 months ago

Kinda wish more Democrats could find it within themselves to do more, "dying a hero."

I genuinely do not understand these old fucks. Any normal person would want to retire at the soonest possible opportunity. Why don’t these geriatric clowns?

"Nobody else can be trusted to run any of this stuff like I can. I'm essential to the running of this system and can never go away or even take time to consider that I might ever stop."

Also I think a lot of them hate their kids, hate their spouses, don't like their lives and don't want to be home alone dwelling on how alienated and empty they are.
